Flying into London. I think.
Taken from the ferry at Portsmouth, going to Ryde, on the Isle of Wight. Before we left, since they wouldn't let me stay outside.
The lavendar farm for a quick cup of tea. I'd gotten in later than I thought I would, owing to having missed the 12:45 ferry by about 3 minutes. Drat.
There'll be several of the lavendar farm; I liked the flowers. Don't worry, I'm always like this at the start of a trip.
I like roof lines and colors, and the sort of fleur de lis pattern on the roof crest. I'd say I quit taking pictures of building lines later on, but I'd be lying.
Ryde, I'm pretty sure. I missed the best one, which was the view from the harbor. And I got accustomed to the Merrie Olde England store front look, so I mostly quit taking them.
From Yarmouth Pier, on the Isle of Wight. The stone affair on the right is Yarmouth Castle which is, according to Smudgie, in castle terms about the size of a postage stamp. But still a perfectly legitimate castle.
The same thing farther out. You can see about the whole of the postage stamp. I mean castle.
From Yarmouth Pier. I like the forest of masts thing, okay?
The Quaint English Seaside Town, fairly classic persuasion.
From the churchyard of whatever the Anglican church in Yarmouth is.
The Methodist church in Yarmouth. Okay, Smudgie? And yes, it's very pretty.
The imposing front of Yarmouth Castle, probably one of the smallest castles in the UK.
Cream tea. It looks like a mountain of butter, but it's clotted cream.
Down to the creek with the Smudgelet--and so are the next several.
More on the walk. It was a pretty long walk.
And when you come out of the tunnel, you're almost to the place with the half mile of blackberry vines.
Brace yourself, I went nuts taking pictures in here.
Taken by a Smudgelet
I hadn't seen them this color before. Ours are only blue or pink.
Stopped in Arundel with Jools. This is the Roman Catholic church whose name I don't remember.
Still in the Roman Catholic Church. Okay, I looked it up. Cathedral Parish of Our Lady and St. Philip Howard
Still in Arundel. It's a Priory, I think.
The Anglican church of St. Nicholas, Arundel. So are the next several.
The texture of the outside walls. I think Jools said it was flint.
It's a fancier Paschal candle than ours, for sure.
Another from the outside.
A castle tower through the doorway
Arundel Castle. “Seat of the duke,” said the gatekeeper. When asked which duke, he replied, “The eighteenth.”
Down the street and out to the countryside--Arundel
Driving out of town. (Yes, I know it's a bit out of focus. We were driving.)
You can see the Cathedral of Our Lady and also St. Nicholas here. If you look in the right places.
Various places in Brighton. Mostly the Royal Pavilion
I just liked them. They made me think of Smudgie. Everybody needs a penguin in a Mardi Gras mask.
You can see here I'm doing my Monet impression. It's what's left of a pier or bridge, I forget, at Brighton.
