Judi's 60th Birthday Party

After some planning and help from many angles...it came through. A surprise 60th birthday party for Judi!Thanks to the Converses for opening their home. Thanks to them, Speiers, and Kirkpatricks for great food! Thanks for Julie for being around to share the day! So, here's a few shots to remember the day.

Here's our new digs. There's still a few finishing touches to do, but it's mostly done. There's another full and 1/2 bath that are not pictured. Also didn't take pictures of the basement/first level or back "yard" and deck. Just not worth it. :) So, enjoy! Imagine doing stairs and more stairs and more stairs...

Autumn 2008

Michigan Autumn is always beautiful and we arrrived before all the leaves fell off! Gives us a great reminder of Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." What an amazing creator! We're enjoying seeing family and hanging out with friends. Cold weather struck us with force when we arrived! It was 85 degrees when we left Macau and 40 when we landed in Michigan! But, we're getting used to both that and the lack of humidity! Our brains are gradually getting to the right time zone. We've stayed awake with apple picking, trick-or-treating, and hanging with friends. Zach has been a trooper but we really don't recommend doing a 12 hour time change with a 19 week old baby! Jet lag is bad enough on adults! Kiddo hasn't known what time is what for a while! He's just beginning to get back on track!

Zach - July & August

The first 2.5 months with Zach have absolutely flown! He's grown (almost 13 pounds now) and smiles like a pro. It's so neat to see all the little things as they develop. This week, he's mastered rolling to his right side! He's traveled to Hong Kong and visited friends there; had several baby sitters; been dedicated at church; and been held by so many! So here's a few pictures for you to enjoy!

Oasis - 1 Yr Anniversary

After mulitple location changes, new people coming, others leaving, lots of memories made...Oasis is still going! July 20 was the celebration of Oasis' grand opening.Lots of people joined in the fun. Family service meant magic, pictures showing where we've been, testimonies, bullet point message of looking forward to where we're going, and food. A great day!

Yamanaka Chalet

Lake Yamanaka is near Mt. Fuji in Japan. We were able to stay at a Camp and Conference Center run by SEND International called Yamanaka Chalet. It was a week of total relaxation before life changes immensely with becoming parents!

Chinese New Year - 2008

Chinese New Year, also called Spring Festival, is actually really quiet in Macau. Most people go to their home cities in mainland China and visit their families. Shops are closed, grocery stores don't stock anything so shelves go bare, streets are empty, and traffic is blissfully limited! This year was cold, but we went downtown for the festivities with hats and gloves. The bright colors of the decorations, dragons, and lions help get our minds off the cold, grey skies!

Lyn's 50th Birthday Party

Lyn Davis turned 50 in January and a surprise birthday party was in order! So, on 14 January, Oasis International Church turned into a 50's style diner complete with greased hair for the guys and scarves for the gals. Steve took the show with a rendition of "Pretty Woman"! If you weren't able to attend, just enjoy the pictures! If you were there, hope you get some extra laughs!

Oasis Christmas 2007

Oasis International Church celebrated Christmas on December 23 with a great service or Christmas Carols, some stories, and lots of food. It's been a great year with this church of getting to know each other and riding through several location changes. Christmas was a special time of gathering together to celebrate.

Hope Medical Clinic

HOPE Medical Clinic will open early 2008. I've been working with them since August on all the marketing needs. HOPE will be an English and Chinese Clinic for family medicine. It will also serve as a place where residents in the Hope Residents Program can fully practice their skills. It's been a great experience to work with them.

If you ever want to visit this area, choose October! Absolutely gorgeous weather! We saw plenty - feasting our eyes on mountains, rivers, fields, and quaint buildings. We went bamboo boating, biking, walking, shopping, and floating down the Li River. Melissa, her parents (Peri and Gary), and Joy were great travel companions.

Browns Visit Macau

Greg & Diana Brown are friends from Greensboro, NC. What a great surprise when I heard from Diana that they would come to Macau! It was a quick frew days with lots of talk, lots of laughs, and lots of exploring Macau. They were great visitors - willing to try anything!

USA Trip

The weeks we've had in the US have flown by! We've been in four states (one thanks for a 9 hour delay in Ohio!), seen all members of our immediate families, and reconnected with friends. We got appointments done, shopped till we were sick of it for supplies we can't get in Macau, and enjoyed clean air! We've grilled outside to our heart's content and thoroughly enjoyed eavesdropping on other people's conversations at restaurants. We've relaxed a little, but mostly run like crazy. We're both ready to be home in Macau, but can't say we're looking forward to the humidity. Ah well, we will cherish these memories and go home to make some more!
