here's the unrestored coin door and nasty looking front of cabinet
coin entry bezel - it had holes drilled in it for some reason - I glass bead blasted the bezel and the entire coin door as it was a mess
a little JB weld on the holes
other bits beadblasted, repaired and primed
just the door
sanded and primed
the finished result - I used semi flat spray and then spattered with slightly thinned gloss Tremclad enamel (used an old paintbrush) - texture is correct now
another shot of the finished result - the photos don't really do this justice - it does look (and feel) really close to factory
rough!
a beauty
her good side!
backbox a mess
yep - that's a bullet - I pulled it out of this wound on the left inside of the cabinet (Angelo was there when we discovered this). She's definitely been through the wars.
bullet hole (entry) - bullet held up to hole
lovely.
backside
ugly inside too
adios decals
off the ass end
one side
nice looking corners and bottom edges!
more of the same
another corner
on her back
speaks for itself
use a heat gun, a porta-power jack (see thing in upper right with black hoses), a mallet and apart it comes
time for surgery
cutting all the broken wood off the bottom edge
gluing up the bullet hole
clamped up (I actually used many more, but forgot to take photo before taking some off)
corner repair under way
backbox repair
continued
you can shave with this
getting close
the underside edge now (will probably paint it though)
more of underside edge (there is a filler piece on the right side which replaced the broken wood)
a completed corner
more repairs
bottom after sanding - bottom edges of delaminating cabinet replaced - corners not done in this shot
a better shot showing replaced wood on cabinet edges - corners to be repaired yet
prime time! (using a two-part, high-build catalyzed primer - thanks Dad)
backbox underway
primed
cabinet priming - note new chocks too
decent shot of primed backbox
another one
primed inside
ready for final sanding, paint, and decals - you can see grain if you look closely here, but I have since sanded out the cabinet and it is glass smooth with no imperfections
