My directions said to go under this!
But, I had to go around...
And in between...
Through...
To where it was 13' 6" high.
Always too much traffic!
Sitting on a bridge is a great time to look around.
Looks like gridlock.
Inch by inch.......
Some nice clean water flows underneath.
With a duck, unmindful to the pollution.
"A tree grows in Brooklyn."
Old buildings abound in NYC.
Graffiti is everywhere a paint can can reach!
Sometimes quite artistic.
Off to NJ for my back haul.
The Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
To say these roads are rough is being nice.
I haven't seen roads like this in any other part of the country!
The south end of the Brooklyn Bridge.
An amazing structure, to say the least.
Brooklyn Bridge entrance.
Not suitable for trucks.
Stars and Stripes.
More traffic.
It never ends!
And almost always under construction.
Traffic, traffic and more traffic.
And an ambulance trying to get through.
Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
It's called 'narrow' for a reason.
And wicked high.
Time to get movin'
And over to the tolls...
Staten Island Expressway, NYC into NJ, Goethals Bridge.
A view only seen from the road.
Another shot (stuck in traffic, again!)
Kearny, New Jersey, my next stop.
Flat tire repair at Perth-Amboy Tire, N.J.
Here's what it looks like from behind the wheel.
Not much of a place for big rigs!
The tire comes off....
And gets repaired.
Some really big tires, piled higher than my truck.
A bungee cord hook was stuck in the tire.
And the cord stuck in the fender.
The NJ Skyway.
As seen on "The Sopranos".
Owens-Corning shingle plant, my next pick-up.
Two to a truck, and they load you in about 10 minutes.
The George Washington Bridge.
It's hard to comprehend the size of this structure.
It's like a great monolith rising out of the Hudson River.
Upper level of bridge...
The suspension cables look really big up close.
There is always traffic here.
Most cars fly by, unaware of the mighty structure they are crossing.
Big enough to be mistaken for a building.
High enough to be a skyscraper.
The Hudson River below.
Cross Bronx Expressway. The roughest and busiest road in America!
The End!
