Japan10 - Osaka Maritime Museum

The Osaka Maritime Museum was opened on 14 July 2000. It was built on reclaimed land in the Bay of Osaka at a cost of 12.8bn yen, with a replica Edo period trading ship, the Naniwa Maru as its centrepiece.

Hikone is a city on the shore of Lake Biwa, in Shiga prefecture. Hikone Castle was built by Ii Naokatsu in 1622. It is an original castle, i.e. it survived the post feudal era without undergoing destruction and reconstruction.
