AIDS Walk Philly

AIDS Walk Philly is the Delaware Valley's largest annual HIV/AIDS public awareness and fundraising event. Each year, thousands of people join together with friends, family, neighbors, and community leaders in a walk-a-thon and 10K Run to make a lasting statement about our commitment to conquering HIV/AIDS. More and more people in the Delaware Valley are living with HIV/AIDS. Many of these people are in desperate need of health care services and other life-saving programs, but with cutbacks in government dollars, these programs are often under-funded. Private donations are needed now more than ever. Until there's a cure, we'll keep walking. For more information, please visit www.aidswalkphilly.org.

ELUZ Benefit Dinner

Hogar Estudiantes de la Luz (ELUZ) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) composed of children from substandard neighborhoods whose families are displaced from the four-decade-long civil war. They live in extreme poverty, have problems with malnutrition, suffer from child abuse, and have substandard, if any schooling, among other things. This benefit dinner included soup, salad, "arroz con pollo" (rice with chicken), "platanos" (similar to a banana), veggies, and dessert. The atmosphere reflected a traditional Colombian dinner party. All donations and monies raised go directly to Colombia to help children with school tuition and supplies, operational and transportation expenses. See http://eluzcolombia.org/ for more info.
