Day 12 - making our way to Beppu. we are taking trains everyday.
waiting for our ramen to be served
Beppu is the land of onsens (hot spring) and there's even an onsen for your hands just outside the train station
降龙十八掌
proceeded to the Hells of Beppu which are a series of weird onsens for viewing only. they are just out to cheat tourist money really. plus each 'hell' you go to charge a separate entrance fee.
this particular hell is about bubbling mud like pools
any idea what we are doing?
the devil is trying to make a chop on me (again) while i was trying to resist it.. haha.
Obasan and ojisan. Kyushu have a very grey population and everywhere we go we just see a lot of elderly Japanese.
trying the foot onsen there. the water was HOT!
see the colour difference between the area soaked in the water and the area that was not?
HOPE is everywhere. haha
treating the monster to some ice cream
i have no idea what we are doing.
Jen is getting very 'off'
the blood pool. which someone commented basically just look like a pool of steaming menses water
and this was all to it at the attraction. call THAT an attraction
last 'hell' we went to was a spout hell where a geyser will shoot up every 30 mins. falling asleep while waiting for the geyser to spout.
and finally the geyser spouted
and it was really nothing very spectacular
"wow! a geyser!"
asleep again... the buses come at frequencies of about once an hour so it was a looong waiting time.
Jen said that this God will protect you against the cold. Jen said.
let me check out what he's eating.
it was fireworks part 2 at a park in Beppu.
it was WAY shiok!
the final one. will shoot into the air to a ht of 20m. i'm trying to make sure i did not misread instructions again.
Jen the HUM hiding behind us the whole night.
this one's had a sound resembling the gun shot when lit. and it flies into the sky.
Day 13 - off to Osaka
Water fortress outside Osaka Castle
Osaka Castle
view from the top of Osaka Castle
Shinsaibashi suji - the shopping haven in Osaka
i insisted we should take some neo prints (or purikura as it is called in Jap)
having fun decorating the neo prints
Day 14 - Universal Studios Japan
an over rated ride
think we were waiting to go for the spiderman ride. it was really good but a little dizzy.
can spot us?
tracks of the best ride i took on the trip. it's a cool roller coaster ride that lasted for almost 4 mins and you can choose a song you like to go with the ride. taking the roller coaster with the right song makes the experience really great.
it was a spectacular show
lunch at Snoopy's. The food was really bad and pricey. USJ is so much more out to cheat tourist money than Disney. Even fast passes need to use money to buy. WTH
seats of the cool roller coaster ride. music will blast into ur ears from the personalized system while u plunge down
the roller coaster plunge
the must take picture at USJ
Dotonburi, where we went in search of the giant crab
and we found it!
the orh cheh gals
and this is how we attempt to finish the Black Sugar Umeshu in the hostel.
Day 15 - off to Kyoto
the Kyoto Station. a very beautiful station resembling an airport terminal
meeting a Maiko on our way to a temple. she has really guyish features
Kiyomizu Temple
we are so unglam alongside the lady in Yukata.
this is apparently where u pray to find love
we would have loved to believe the power of the stone if not fro the throngs of school kids there trying it out. the temple was WAY crowded and lacks the tranquility of a temple.
more maiko
If a couple buys a Couple Burger, one of them can kiss the other in front of a staff member to receive a free drink. Don't do a French kiss, they only recognise light kisses . A couple can be any 2 persons regardless of age and sex.
salang hae
what a good way to mask the face
Yasaka Shrine
Gion - where the Geishas roam
there were just so many ang moh standing around, earnestly waiting for a Geisha to show herself and they will swamp in with their cameras. suddenly i feel really bad for the Geishas.
we decided not to prey on the Geishas and relac one corner - the Gion corner
The Yasaka Shrine at night
Kyoto Tower
