Day 9 - bags in tow, we make our way by train to Nagasaki early next morning
most train stations in Japan has stalls selling udon and soba
the view from just outside the Ryokan we are staying at. Houses in Nagasaki are just built on the hill slopes as there are very little flat lands. and the roads are all winding and narrow.
SMAP!
getting onto the tram. one of the main transport in Nagasaki.
the coin exchange machine found on the tram and also all buses in Japan. so convenient. why can't Sg have that too?
before we head for the Atomic Bomb Museum, we stopped by a humble restaurant that serves really good food at reasonable prices.
the 2 of them got too hungry while waiting for the food to be served
this sushi set meal cost just over S$10
2 of my fav food in one. Unagi and tamago yaki.
some of the things made by visitors to the Atomic Bomb Museum to pray for peace.
9th August 1945 11:02am, the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki
143,124 people perished in the bombing.
the numerous statues at the peace park, some were gifts from various countries to signify their wish for peace
the positions we get into to find good camera angles
say "peace" at the Peace Park
Kimu Taku!
exterior of the Tram
see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil
which shoe should i buy?
Pocky galore!
stopped by a fireworks shop to stalk up our "ammunition". wish we could buy everything in the shop and play all we want b4 we return to Sg where we can only play with sparklers.
the Ryokan where 6 of us shared a room
the night view from the Ryokan
Wagyu beef dinner
it was a 13 course dinner. no joke.
and we were all having difficulty finishing our dinner
after dinner, it was fireworks time!
but then it started to rain and Jen fell while running back to the Ryokan. Sigh.
reliving school days. Tau pok! Sadly I was the victim.
the messy room after all our Futons were laid.
the houses are all built crazily close to each other.
Day 10 - off to Kumamoto
we made our way to Mt Aso where a huge crater awaits us but due to the rain, we were not able to get up.
so we decided to try the delicacy there - horse meat sashimi. It tasted ok, slightly tough and pretty juicy but it still feels weird to be eating horse.
and we ordered other side dishes to go with great warm Sake
waiting for the return train at Aso station
and chopping it on ourselves
Day 11 - Rafting day. on our way to Hitoyoshi where the rafting will take place.
the scenery is simply captivating
helping Jen protect her wounds in preparation for rafting
gearing up for the challenge
we were in 3 layer of clothes plus life jacket plus safety helmet. felt super safe.
paddle in hand, we are ready!
the briefing before we get into the boat.
Shunyi lost a challenge and had to be buried in the sand. Was supposed to be warm but turned out just to be full of creepy crawlies.
we tried to be Tarzans. But only Diya has potential (as seen in the pic)
the rest of us then dragged in the water like above
Scandalous Six with the 3 instructors at the end of the 3 hr rafting experience
after rafting, we had BBQ lunch by the river!
MEAT!
this is Mr Hello Kitty cos he wears white Hello Kitty slippers
as we are done with lunch, we started to fool around once again
Diya having an impromptu performance
and they are all mesmerized by her singing
with cute Tsune-san. too bad he's only 21.
final shot before we left. 6 staff (incl the one taking this photo) serving the 6 of us. haha... it was a truly great experience
nice and sunny day in Hitoyoshi. the provinces are just so much nicer than the cities. nice skyline with nice air
yes we like to chop on ourselves
