Antietam Workcamp 2007
When I was asked, approximately 18 months ago, to be the Hospitality Chairperson for the workcamp, I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. I was eager to provide a warm welcome for those 350 + youth and adults coming to the area, not knowing how much it would change me. I quickly gathered a group of loyal volunteers. We brainstormed and came up with a fantastic week, full of wonderful ways to say "Welcome" and "Thank you for coming". Lots of support came from outside of our church and we were grateful for the extra hands. The week was a huge success for everyone involved! The weather was perfect, the campers completed their work, we passed out snacks and gave them a week to remember. It was wonderful to see how everyone - volunteers, staff, residents and campers came together all in the name of God ! I realize now that I didn't choose to be the Hospitality chairperson.
