This was once an old neighborhood.
Area surrounding this bulldozed field is being redeveloped with expensive skyrise apartments.
But a few families have not left. Probably due to not having anywhere affordable to move to. Staying in remains of there old house is free. The city does not always accomodate families dispersed by razed neighborhoods. In fact, it usually doesn't.
Sometimes I pass by this field (secret short-cut to the subway). Today, I was invited to meet the family who still lives here.
They were very personable, warm and seemingly unashamed of their home. Lucky, infact, to have all that space to breath. Their tenacity is admirable.
And their dog!
