Fly Away to...Horsham

On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th the Horsham Flying Club hosted a flay away weekend to Horsham by pilots from the Latrobe valley and Gippsland. Eight aircraft made the trip to Horsham on the Saturday, with 16 pilots and crew. A great weekend was had by both the visitors to Horsham and the club members who were their hosts. These photos are of the planes that arrived on Saturday as well as some of the crew. The HFC hosted a BBQ on Saturday night and a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning.

J230 Completes Its First Aerotows

On Saturday 1st September the club's new Jabiru J230 completed its first two aertow test flights at Horsham Aerodrome. Mark Griffin flew the Jabiru and Max Hedt flew the twin Astir during the first flight. Steve Schneider then had the second flight in the Twin. On Sunday 2nd another two test flights were flown. One by Max Hedst and the second by Peter Weissenfeld and Steve Schneider. A full report of the test flights can be found at the clubs blog. Check out the link on the web site.

The Bundy Trip

Flying Visitors To Horsham Aerodrome

Many aircraft pass through Horsham Aerodrome on the way to somewhere else. Being roughly half way between Melbourne and Adelaide makes Horsham the perfect re-fueling stop. Her are just some of our recent arrivals and departures.

T31 re-rigged at Horsham Aerodrome

The Horsham Flying Club's (Wimmera Soaring Club) first glider, the T31 returned to Horsham recently for re-painting. After re-painting by Joe Luciani of Composite Components the glider was re-rigged for publicity purposes at Horsham prior to its return the the Australia gliding museum workshop. the T31 was even stored during its stay in the original hanger built by the club way back in 1963/64. max Hedt can relate a number of stories about his first flight in the T31 all those years ago.

New Sign Installed

The Horsham Fling Club has installed a new sign on the main hanger. The sign faces the taxiway leading up to the club facilities at Horsham Aerodrome. It is hoped that it will now be much easier for pilots in visiting aircarft to find the club facilities at Horsham Aerodrome.

Ops at Colefield 20 AUG 2006

Photographs from club operations at Colefield, Dadswells Bridge Sunday 20th August 2006. Michael Sudholz flew his first solo filght in a glider later that day after the club rreturned to Horsham Aerodrome.

2006 Annual Dinner

The Horsham Flying Club held in annual dinner and awards night on Saturday 19th August at the Glen Logan Restaurant, Dooen road Horsham. During the evening solo certificates were presented to pilots who achieved a solo flight in the club's Jabiru Light Sport Aircraft in the past year.

2005 Fly-In Photos

The Horsham Flying Club held its first Fly-In in October 2005. It rained all day on the saturday and cleared through Sunday. One visiting pilot and aircraft arrived, Cliff Banks of Sun Centre Ultralights of Swan Hill. More people arrived by car on the Sunday and a great day was had by all who attended.

Some photos from the 2005 Annual Dinner & Awards Nights held at Danny's Rust Nail Restaurant (Warracknabeal). A number of club members recieved solo certificates for first flights made in the club's Jabiru LSA ultralight.

Assembling Jabiru 55-0933

Photos taken during the assembly and initial inspection of Jabiru 55-0933 at Horsham in February 2005. Jabiru 0933 was originaly based in Tasmania and was brought over to victoria on the Bass Starit ferry 'Spirit of Tasmania'. 0933 was assembled under the supervision of Cliff Banks of Sun Centre Ultralights.

Collection of historic photograghs of flying oprations and aircraft of the Wimmera Soaring Club taken at Horsham Aerodrome during the 1960s and 1970s. The Wimmera Soaring Club became the Horsham Flying Club in 2005.
