The different branches of the work of RICE
Some of RICE workers... Far right is Rouert who hosted me for the day...
Seven year old blind boy who played drums like a pro and sang like an angel
18 year old blind boy on recorder...
To the left is the kitchen, the other building is where all the children live, plus the office
Inside the hut is a mushroom farm
This empty land will soon have houses on stilts for the children to live in as well as a school building with several classrooms
Crossroads will be sending a lot of equipment for the new school including desks, computers, fans and I think even a generator... this site doesn't have electricity.
Inside the musthoom hut
The mushrooms grow out the bottom of these sacks that have some sort of sawdust concoction in them...
A mushroom!
Small farm growing food for the children, including eggplants...
The other side of the accommodation building is where the current school is run. The children sit 2-3 at each of these desks, 70 per class. There are 250 children that come for lessons. Each class goes for an hour, while the rest of the children play out the back. They rotate classes throughout the day.
Looking back at the RICE buildings from the road. The land in front is not owned by RICE.
The blind pig farmer we visited in a remote village an hour out of Siem Reap town.
Preparing the food for the pigs.
Their house is the only one built with cement in this village. It's also the biggest...
The pig farmer's wife and 3 children
Feeding the pigs by hand...
Local children coming to see the foreigner... I gave out the last of my little clip on koalas.
