The view from the restaurant at The Peak
The view from The Peak look out
At the Kowloon Walled City Park. You can see the wall behind us although the original wall was pulled down by the Japanese during the war and the bricks used to build Kai Tak airport
Outside the original army guard house at the Walled City Park
The entire history display at Kowloon Walled City Park
Twins!
Nearby streets with the very common open-air style butcher. Is that hygienic?
High Tea at the Sheraton. Fair high tea connoisseur Mel on the right.
It's been a hard day and we deserve it. So much shopping to do!
Quick cuppa before the Island Hopping tour... mum's getting into a bit of creative photography
The Island Hopping tour boat
And on the left side, we have a rare species of mangrove...
Abandoned Hakka village at Lai Chi Wo
Old grandma's house in the abandoned Hakka village
Po Po, making a living from selling drinks to tourists
Under the Tree of Love hoping to be pooped on by a bird (not)
Lots of villagers sell drive fish products. They really smell!
Hmmm.... snack time
Leaving the fish out to dry
Beautiful view from Tap Mun Island peak
Nearly back at Sha Tin after the Island Hopping tour
The Black Sheep Cafe at Shek O. The mint and lime drinks were fab
The beach at Shek O
Fresh food market at Shau Kei Wan on the way home from Shek O
You can't tell from the photo, but these fish have been cut in such a way that their hearts are still beating. So... technically I guess they are still alive, which is really really gross. But proves freshness.
Long day selling rolls of material...
Fresh food market...
Quick cuppa before heading to Wan Chai computer centre for a camera, yay.
The view from the Kennedy Town flat using my new camera, minus wide-angle lens...
...with wide-angle lens. Cool fun.
And in the morning!
View around the corner a bit...
Mum on the balcony...
Vicki in the living room
Kitchen... reasonable size for HK standards... The washing machine is also a dryer (which would be great if you knew how to use it... we had to hang everything up around the flat to dry)
The Merton, Block 1, Kennedy Town
Shenzhen shopper
Dim sum for lunch at Shenzhen. Vicki, me and Jes...
Lamma Island
Lamma Island... no cars allowed on the island, but you can have a bike.
Through the streets of Lamma Island
We nearly had morning tea here, but changed our minds... we were suspicious about the quality of the coffee (those of us that drink coffee that is).
Morning tea at the Bookworm Cafe
Lamma Island has lots of shops with little knick knacks like this...
And this!
Lunch at a seafood restaurant, where, as in most Chinese restaurants, everything is plastic!
Except for the cutlery...
Fresh lobster anyone?
At Central
At Central with Central Plaza in the background... the tallest building in HK with a height of 374 m
Off the MTR, ready for the ladies market - after we've got some money out!
Pig intestines anyone?
BBQ octypus
Mong Kok Ladies Market, which isn't just for ladies, as you can see...
Interesting food stuffs
Ah, here we are once again... bit of creative photography happening
Happy at high tea :)
Hmmm.... dessertsssss
Mum at Harbour City, Kowloon
On the ferry, back to Hong Kong side, nearly time to get the train to the airport... :(
Complete with setting sun...
Bye mum!
The Comms department Christmas tree
Vicki visits Comms
Vicki heads up some community volunteers to wrap presents for local supporters that will be given on behalf of Crossroads - her brief: no two are to be the same!
They look fab! Hows the sparkle on that guy's tooth - he must have a good toothpaste.
Bit of cleaning up to do
Greek dinner night with a bunch of Greeks and various others... like Aussie, British, Russian, Zambian, Canadian...
Waiting for the ferry to Cheung Chau for a needed rest after working hard a Crossroads!
Cheung Chau is popular on a Sunday!
The view from the long climb up the hill. Thankfully John from the retreat centre met us at the ferry and helped us up with our bags. No cars on Chueng Chau - a great place to get fit.
Hmm... now which way?
Dinner in town at your typical Chinese diner - although I've never eaten under a street sign before.
Testing out the night setting on my camera. Good detail in the background...
Eating is a serious business in HK
Sammy the kitten at the retreat centre who spent most of his days with us when we were in
Ah! I want a kitten!!!
There were lots of abandoned houses on Cheung Chau. They are apparently still very much a part of the families that own them as they believe their ancestors still live there.
Lovely views but it's too smoggy to see Lamma Island - you can just make it out to the top left
Walking along the coastal route into town lunch
The "Mini-Great-Wall"
Mini-Great-Wall
Fire sticks. Presumably for putting out bush fires. Surely they can't be serious about using these to put out a bush fire... and then having the presence of mind to replace them in the rack?
This helicopter comes 3 times a day to take people from Cheung Chau hospital to a more equipped hospital - probably on HK Island
Lots of interesting alley ways
Hanging out the fish to dry
Rather lots of boats
How's the serenity?
