Sue lives up 3 flights of very steep stairs... you could almost class them as ladders! No wonder people use ropes over their front verandahs to bring in furniture... most household items wouldn't fit up the average Phom Pehn stairwell

The sign said that the barbed wire was put along the verandahs to stop people jumping off to kill themselves.
Smateria shop was started by 2 Italian women. They taught destitute women to design and sew these bags and wallets made from materials such as mosquito nets, woven strips of plastic bags and tetra packs. I bought a wallet made from woven plastic bag strips like the ones you can see on the shelves on the right hand side.

Wall after wall of detailed reliefs telling all manner of stories... all these walls used to be covered with gold leaf but it was later melted off and collected. The fires used to melt the gold burned the wooden cellings, but this small section has been restored like the original....
