Hope returned from class to find a box waiting at her, Cate, Harper and Samantha's door!
She spied that the address was from “FAIRWAY PLACE” meaning only one thing...American Girl! Unfortunately she was too excited to hold the camera steady for such a zoomed in shot ;)
“Oh, thank you Hope for bringing me my long-awaited package!” Cate ran over to Hope, excited about what was apparently her box.
Ugh, Hope thought, she is so spoiled! She got like five outfits for Christmas! Unfair!
“Well, aren't you going to help me open it?” asked Cate. “Yeah, I guess,” said Hope.
Hope and Cate quickly opened the box to find another box inside! But this one was purple and it said “Midnight Holly Outfit” on the bottom...
Cate quickly pulled out her new dress and held it up to herself. “Isn't it beautiful?” Hope sighed overdramatically. “Yeah...”
“Fine, you can try it on first,” Cate ceded. “I knew you weren't being helpful for nothing...”
Sam had heard the commotion and came over to ask what was going on. “Well, I got a new dress, but Hope guilt-tripped me into letting her try it on,” Cate explained, and Hope being overdramatic and posessive did not surprise Samantha in the least.
“I love this dress, Cate! It is so dramatic and gorgeous!”
Cate pretty much conceded to sharing the dress at this point, because even she had to admit it looked good on Hope.
“It looks great!” exclaimed Sam. Hope went off to get the fur collar because of course it would be more dramatic. She noted that Sam had also gotten a new dress a few days ago at a craft fair (which she was wearing now) but since she was in this dress now, she decided not to argue with Sam over Sam being spoiled as well. Sam was a princess so Hope at least thought she had somewhat of an excuse.
Harper walked in just as Hope was making another dramatic pose, pretending she was shooting for a fashion magazine... “That's a great dress, Hope!” Harper exclaimed. “Oh, hi, Harper! It's actually mine,” Cate asserted.
“Don't I look like a movie star?!”
(I tried to get a close-up of the brocade but my camera doesn't do really close detail too well. You can kind-of see that there are red dots in the pattern which are more obvious on the actual dress and add a nice detail. It's also a very high-quality fabric.)
“Can I try it on now?” asked Cate. “My mom did send it to ME...”
“Okay, fine,” said Hope. “If you promise to share.” “Yeah, whatever,” said Cate, while Hope muttered “spoiled”.
“It's so elegant!” exclaimed Cate.
Sam and Harper agreed that the dress looked great on Cate too, while Hope mourned the fact that she had to change back into jeans...
But not for long, as she switched roles to red-carpet commentator. “And Cate Flannery is wearing an original design by...American Girl! Featuring the dramatic fur collar!” ...“Which looks better on me,” she muttered.

Hope left Cate to hopefully decide she hated the dress, come to her senses and donate the dress to Hope, but in the meantime Cate and Harper decided to go study for their biology final. Although Harper was an English major, both she and Cate were pre-med so they were secretly enthusiastic about every science course they took because it was one more step towards med school!
