Cate gently glided to a stop as she saw her friend approach.
“What are you wearing?” Cate asked.
“Oh, it's my Halloween costume!” Sam announced. “Isn't it pretty?”
“Oh. Yes, it is. Anyway, what's going on?”
“Lindsay called me to explain our prospective member project. We are participating in a refugee resettlement program. The girl we are hosting is a refugee from Kansas.”
“Kansas?! Like the band? I'd like to take refuge from them...“ Cate quipped. “But seriously, the US doesn't take refugees from its own states, does it? Are you sure she isn't talking about YOU taking in a refugee, like in Monaco?”
“I'm positive that's what she said. Weird, isn't it?”
“I have some suspicions... I'll explain them once you're done.”
Meanwhile, back in their room, Emily and Piper had heard a knock on their door. “Are you sure it's okay to open it?” Emily asked. “Of course!” said Piper in a hurried tone. “Maybe it's an important visitor for me! It's not like it's going to be an evil witch who casts a spell on you, Emily.”
“Okay, come on! I'm not opening it myself!”
“I think I can reach the knob from here...” Emily said a little worriedly.
But they - or rather, Emily - managed to get the door open, and they stared in shock at the person who closed it behind her... TO BE CONTINUED!!!
