From Turkey to Iran we took the train. It runs once a week only. It takes two days and nights, but it's a very nice experience. The train is full of Iranian people and alcohol, because after the border it's forbidden, so the people use their time and freedom. With Ömer, who helped buying the train tickets and hosts us for one night, on the train station in Ankara. Very nice guy.
interesting landscapes and rural places.
mountains everywhere, we love them.
sunset
With Pegah in the train-restaurant. We stayed in the same coupé and had a lot of fun. She is from Tehran and explained a lot about Iran, told us stories Nepal, Turkey etc. We had a great time in the train, thanks to her. Check the Turksih flag on the window. There was on every window, so nationalistic, heheh.
water! hehe, after some time, even we are suprised to see water out of nothing
every mountain we see, we like to climb :) It seems not that hard for us, but even the smallest kids are better in Iran :) We tried anyway and enjoyed a lot. This is from the train only.
reading, playing backgammon (we learned by our host in Istanbul, Salih), talking with Pegah, eating her bread with chocolate and cookies (we survived because of her food) and off courses looking at the beautiful landscapes
Eastern Turkey, with Kurdish people. In Iran we visited Kurdistan and met some Sunni-Kurds.
Sitting in our coupé, we could make four bed, for sleeping. The continuing sound of the wheels and the little shaking makes it easy to sleep in the train :)
crossing the lake Van on a boat. It took five houres, but it was very beautifull to see sunset from the boat. Unfortunatly we couldn't see the Ararat because of the dark.
we stayed on the deck to see the sunset and talk with some people from Iran and France.
A French family, so cool, they are traveling together to Iran.
Henk and Gerrie at sunset.
