The battlefield from the point where the French troops were waiting for the confrontation with the troops of John Churchill, Earl of Marlborough. The HQ of de Villeroy was based on the rear, on the top of the mound and the French were placed to the left and the right of Hottomont's Tomb. On the left of the picture, you can see the Roman footpath locally called " Brunehaut's chaussee" ( presently sadly macadamized ) : the old cobblestones are still to be found under this modern superficial layer and are still bo be seen a little further westwards.
The only visitor's orientation pannel. Very european though : in four languages.
