This is the first thing you see currently as you turn north onto Mississippi Highway 604 - a Detour US 90 East sign. MS 604 cuts right through the heart of Pearlington and connects US 90 on its south end to MS 607 on its north.

Leaving Pearlington and entering the Stennis Space Center Buffer Zone on MS 604. The buffer zone extends for miles around the facility. US 90, MS 604, MS 607 and I-10 are some of the highways that run through the Zone.
The Buffer Zone is practically devoid of development, making it a peaceful drive.
A short section of MS 604 inside the Buffer Zone is seeing improvement as of the time of this photo. Do mind the posted speeds - police in Mississippi can be very aggressive in ticketing speeders. (Maybe S&DDAM should move here?)

However, the improved section is very short.
MS 604 crosses a very old bridge here.
MS 604 enters its short homestretch as MS 607 looms ahead. The detour for US 90 continues on MS 607.
