I couldn't figure out why these German girls were dressed so “traditionally”/touristy. Maybe they work in a restaurant?
Lemons and yellow flowers all over theBWM “museum” floor. Trying to sell the BMWs as...?
171,000 EUROS.
Some of the possible shades of leather.
Exhaust-pipe like sculpture.
Olympic Park.
Public pool under those pointy, metal roofs. Unlike Barcelona, they are still using all the facilities.
I liked the roof-thing a lot.
Main arena, from the outside. Didn't want to pay just to walk in.
Tea for a king and queen, eh? Insdie the Hofgarten in the Old City.
Just noting that all the chairs face the plaza and not each other. Blatant promotion of people watching.
Mercedes-Benz taxis?
Theatinerkirche
Lucky head of the lion. Just missed a shot with a local rubbing it as she walked past. Grr.
Lions outside the Residenz
Nationaltheater
Hofbrauhaus, world's most famous beerhouse.
I was an uber-chicken. Couldn't convince myself to take pictures of people.
Not a small drink.
Beer always drunk with giant pretzels
Marienplatz, center of town.
Three times a day these guys did a little dance, re-inacting how this one king died. Tourists like to gaulk.
All the exterior statues and decorations on the buildings were covered in netting.
No gypsies. That's a first, I must admit. Doors of Frauenkirche.
Twin “onion” topped towers of Frauenkirche
Neat fountain right in front of it.
Hippie, VW bus wheel outside Nyphenburg Palace
Nymphenburg,
Sunset wasn't that brilliant, but I tried.
“Work brings freedom”, entrance to Dachau.
Remneants of the old fence. I was shocked to see people living directly up against the memorial--obviously not there 60 years ago.
See how close.
Inside the bunkers where prisoners were held.
Picture of a before picture.
Poplars were there before.
The rocks are to denote where infirmary and similar buildings were before they were bombed out or demolished.
Some sort of gathering outside the crematorium. I was surprised how un-somber the majority of the people were.
Deutsches Museum. Just by walking, this “ride” would rotate 360-degrees vertically.
Supposedly people river-surf here, but with water that yellow, I find it hard to believe.
White Asparagus were everywhere. Some were so thick I thought they were brautworst.
Delicious pickle.
Another Biergarten in Viktualienmarkt.
Marianplatz day 2.
Outdoor mall-type thing with vines hanging from the ceiling.
Odeonplatz. Theatinerkirche to the right.
Look familiar? Modeled after the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Look at those photos again--made me chuckle seeing the reference.
Second set of palaces outside the city. Maxemilian made them. Residents actuall live in one of the buildings. The others are museums. Lots of pretty park space, too.
3D door art.
Morning sun is harsh.
The fountains turned on while I was there.
I have been hoping for a rainbow from all the in-and-out of rain in Madrid, but I guess a “fountain made” one will have to do.
This is actually the airport in a plaza between the two terminals. There was a kid's race for some humanitarian cause going on. I was quite surprised, but the security man said it's common. Way to use space wisely, again (Olympic campus, before).
