2009 AmeriCorps Buildathon

AmeriCorps members serving with Habitat affiliates across the U.S. come together each year for Build-a-thon, a large building project. This year we went to Cedar Rapids, IA to help rebuild after the devastating floods of 2008. Kurt Warner, NFL quarterback, even came to pitch in and rebuild his home town!

Parade of Playhouses

This unique event took place at Crown Center in downtown Kansas City, MO. Sponsors got a plain shell of a playhouse and were given the assignment to get creative in finishing them off. As you can see, we had a variety! All three metro area Habitat for Humanity affiliates were also present, raising awareness for the work they do in our area to bring decent, affordable housing to low income families.

Habitat KC built three new houses sponsored by KC Power & Light for the 2008 build season.

3635 Highland

The first house of our 2008 build season. These photos represent the works done by hundreds of volunteers and staff from February - April. This house is a LEED certified project (Green Build) and was part of the Spring Parade of Homes put together by the local home builders association.
