In the pages of history, the year 2008 will be looked upon as a golden year for the Sikh community. During Oct-Nov this year, more than 4 million devotees will congregate at Nanded, to commemorate 300 years of the consecration (Gurta Gaddi) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj as the eternal Guru and the heavenly journey (Parlokgaman) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Simran Diwas was celebrated on the 15th of November ’07. At 4.30 p.m. IST for 15 minutes, the Sikh community across the world observed this holy day by chanting the Mool Mantra to profess their unity, faith and devotion towards their beloved Guru.
Another significant event was the Jagriti Yatra; a yatra that lovingly showcases the Puratan Hast-likhit Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji and the Shastars of Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Maharaj. The Jagriti Yatra that has embarked upon a year long journey across India and the world, will conclude at Nanded on the 30th of October 08.
