Our ship - and dad on the balcony
tour guide visiting the "optional site and temple"
crossing the middle bridge - for long life I think
a winged guardian - and me
more tilework
the dragon was so brightly painted, it was fun to look at
Note the cruise tour badge on the blue cord
This man was able to lift this rock and it was over 200 kilos!
Mom and dad's room
Dad on the balcony
Anne zoned out on the couch - it was her favorite position the entire trip!
Me reading on the balcony - I read two books in three days - time to relax!
I thought it ironic that the "LOOK OUT!" sign was put up with masking tape.
Anne and I before the captain's dinner.
Our Egyptian Table mates
Our table together - our table was right by the window. The lazy susan in the middle would sometimes move itself when the water was rough. It made for challenges with chopsticks.
Anne, me and dad before we headed to the small cruise on the river. Badges in hand - ready to go.
Our guide on the boat - Anna
Ours was the first boat, so we could see the rest of the people as they loaded up.
Hi Dad - love the life jacket!
The water color changed from brown to green to clear blue as we went upstream
View of the cliffs
It kept getting narrower as we went up
One of the other boats that we were racing
Looking at the other boat as they cross the rocks - note how the color of the water has changed from the earlier pictures
Our oarsmen pulling us. The water was so shallow here- less than 2 feet deep.
Our guide as she was singing a traditional folk song!
One of the many coal chutes along the side of the river. Mom was fascinated by them - it really is pretty cool. Notice how the water is brown and muddy on this part of the river.
View of one of the bridges from the balcony of the room.
Celebrating going through the locks. We went to the lounge at the front and toasted the trip and other good news.
Parking lot where we waited for our tour of the Three Gorges.
View from the bus of the locks.
Hi Anne! Love the photo
View of the Three Gorges Dam
Our Three Gorges guide, with the dam in the background
Posing by the diagram of what the area looked like BEFORE the dam.
Mom and dad with the dam in the background
The dam was so impressive and so big - it's impossible to comprehend the scale from these small photos.
Anne and I - the dam
Dad and mom and the dam
It really was "this big"
I think this sign should have been translated as "no jumping!" or "don't climb the rail." :)
