2nd Annual Sports Meet

"Healthy body lies in healthy mind". "Sports" is an integrated part of GIIS curriculum. It not only builds up physique, but inculcates certain skills like leadership, team building, emphathetic nature, sportsman ship etc. The second Annual Sports Meet was held at our campus on 4th February, 2012. The chief guest Mr. Narasiah garu who is the Director for A.P. sports declared the opening of Second Annual Sports Meet. The torch ws lit by the Sports Captain. Birthday drill was opened by the tiny tots of Nursery and KGI followed by the fungames of Primary chidlren and drills of the other classes. Fun games were not only organised for the children but also to the parents and grandparents . The winners recieved their prizes from the Chief Guest. It was a spectacular show and the crowd appreciated the team work of the students, teachers and the staff of GIIS.

Republic Day

The 63rd republic day was celebrated on 26th jan, 2012 At our campus. Mr. Maganti Narasimha Murthy who is the founder of ARCA Education society was the chief guest. There were many cultural programmes organized by the different classes. A tribute to the national leaders was paid by the tiny tots who dressed themselves as national leaders.

Fancy Dress Competition

Creativity is one of the skills that is important to be developed in tiny tots. The parents had taken great interest & pain in dressing these tiny tots in different characters. Children’s were dressed as mythological character , traffic signal, Community helpers freedom fighters etc. It was a spectacular show where the communication & creative skills of the children were observed

Pop Corn day

The season of corn is around the city. Kids love to eat corn different ways and one of the way is to eat popped corn(pop corn). So the pre primary wing thought of celebrating “pop corn day” on 19th jan 2012. The easily digestible and high calorie content is found in pop corn. Kids bought pop corn to the classes and made garlands, pop corn baskets and had loads of fun too.

Sankranthi & Pongal Celebrations

Pongal, the harvest festival is celebrated in the month of January. Pongal literally means “ boiling over”. In GIIs, the festive mood was all around on a cold winter morning. Kids dressed themselves traditionally and danced around the bon-fire which is called as “Bhogi Mantalu”. The kids of Pre Primary were showered with Bhogi pallu which consists of a mixture of fruits(Regipallu means ber , sugarcane, seasame seeds, jujube,coins andsprouts). This showering of Bhogi pallu is to protect the kids from evil forces. Various competitions for the parents like Rangoli, cricket, kite flying and swimming were held where the parents participated enthusiastically and exhibited their talents.

Christmas Celebrations

As the world is becoming a global village, Christmas is celebrated as one of the biggest events around the world. It is generally celebrated with high spirits all around the world. Though the mode of celebration is different the dates being the same, Christmas is celebrated with great enthusiasm. As GIIS believes in getting festive mood into the campus and among the children it celebrated Christmas on 23rd December, 2011. The children presented a play on birth of Jesus. It was an eye catching event and all around Santas distributing sweets to the children.

Medical checkup

*There are many things that the Parents, Teachers and the School together help the children to get ready for the formal schooling. As the beginning to the school is kinder garten which is a big step, Medical checkup at this level is also a big one as they are prone to infections. In this connection, the school has organized a panel of pediatricians to examine our tiny tots on 17/12/11. The doctors has examined each child and has given their report for their well being. The parents were happy to see their children grow healthy.

FUNGAMA @ GIIS

“Fest” or “carnival” is the term used for a gathering to celebrate. GIIS, Uppal campus has organized “Fungama@GIIS” on 10th and 11th December, 2011. The main objective of this event is to make the parents aware of the happenings in the school. An exhibition was also a part of the “Fest” where the children from preprimary level to grade IX exhibited their projects and their talents before their parents. Some of the main attractions of this fest were “Kaun banega” ?............................... , Fun games for the parents, rides for the children (camel and horse), food fiesta etc. There was a huge crowd enjoying in the wide campus.

Clay Modeling

Clay moulding is one of the ways to develop fine motor skills in children. It not only caters to the needs of pre writing skills but also smoothens wrist and finger muscles preparing them for the formal writing. Children develop creative skills, aesthetic skills, social skills and cognitive skills too.A clay moulding competition was held on 29th November, 2011 at the Kindergarten level . The children prepared different models where their inherent talents were out bounded.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The 3rd investiture ceremony was held on 27th November, 2011 at our campus. The objective of this event is to espouse the confidence, development of leadership qualities and sense of responsibilities among students. We at GIIS create and offer these opportunities to these young and potential leaders. We guide them through various situations where they will have to exhibit their leadership. We were privileged to have our chief guest as Mr. P R Singh , Deputy Director General, National Cadet Corps, Andhra Pradesh. Master Ashish Raj was elected as Head Boy and Miss. Aishwarya as Head Girl. The speech of the guest was very inspiring and the school cabinet took oath to abide to their rules for the Nation, for the organisation and for the chief guest.

Diwali Celebrations

The festive mood was filled at the whole campus as it celebrated diwali on 25th October, 2011 with great fervour. Being the festival of lights, the whole campus was decorated with diyas and lanterns. A special assembly was conducted by the pre primary children where they spoke about the importance of diwali. Diwali song sung by these kids highlighted the event. Children burnt the crackers and at the same time learned some safety tips to have a "happy and safe " diwali. Parents were invited for the celebrations. They were overwhelmed and enjoyed each bit of the event.

MUN

MUN began before the birth of U.N A MUN conference was held on U.N day on 24th October 2011 at GIIS, Uppal Campus. The students of classes VII, VIII and IX became mock United Nations delegates. There were about 14 students representing 14 different countries with a Director and Asst. Director. This has provided our students to benefit and enjoy the interactive learning experience. It encouraged the development of certain skills like research, public speaking, self confidence, writing, problem solving and co-operation. Mar.Ankit of Class IX as Director and Abhishek as Asst. Director and Srini of IX grade represented as Reporter.

Blue Colour Day September 12, 2011

Blue Colour Day 12th sep 2011. “Blue” is the sea “Blue” is the sky “Blue” is the colour of the blue bell you see. Blue colour day was celebrated on 12-09-2011 at our campus. The children were asked to get a blue colour items/a toy to introduce the concept. Blue Colour balloon was given to each child.

Teacher’s Day Celebrations On 5th Sep, 2011

The teacher does not only teach but stands as a mentor for the core of existence. Good teachers impart good education, good teachers groom their students to become leaders. The teachers of GIIS fall into the category of great teachers as they have already started training the students to become the future leaders. The students celebrated the teacher’s day at our campus on 5th Sep, 2011 in their honour. Fun games were organized in different levels and made the teachers feel on cloud nine. The teachers enjoyed their day and also promoted in saving the environment by planting a sapling.

Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations On 30th Aug, 2011.

India being a secular state respects each religion and its culture. As Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi are nearing by, the preprimary children celebrated these two events with full enthusiasm and dedication. These two festivals were celebrated on 30/8/11. The teachers performed aarti and sang bhajans in praise of Lord Ganesha. Eid –Ul –Fitr is celebrated at our campus by the students, who offered prayers by reading a few verses from holy Quran. The children brought Sheer Khurma which is a special dish prepared during “ Ramzan” and shared among their friends.

Rythu Bazaar On 27th Aug, 2011

“Eat healthy & grow healthy” is the Endeavour of the teacher to inculcate healthy eating habits in these tiny tots. In this context, the teachers organized a mock rythu bazaar with the help of parents so thar the children can avoid eating junk food and switch on the fruit/ vegetable. This also made the children familiarize to eat fresh fruits and vegetables so as to avoid certain chronic diseases like cold, fever ect. The children of classes I to IX bought the vegetables from these tiny tots.

IDOl Making On 27 th Aug 2011.

The festival mood begun at our campus with the making of Ganesha’s Idol by the children of grade I to IX. The kids have participated enthusiastically in Idol making and decorated them creatively. Teachers encouraged the children in using oraganic dyse to colour the Ganesha and made them eco friendly. The school encouraged bucket bucket & immersion of the Idol.

Independence Day Celebrations On August 15, 2011

65th Independence Day was celebrated at our campus with utmost interest and enthusiasm. The chief guest Mr.K.Aravinda Rao hoisted the flag and was given guard of honor by the school cabinet. The children performed cultural activities like dance, Tableau, Songs etc. which depicted the different phases of our country. An inspiring speech was given by the chief guest Mr.Aravinda Rao to all the children.

Fruit Salad Party

Good habits need to inculcated among the children at a very young age. In this context a fruit salad party was organised on Aug 2011 at our campus. The teachers gave them hands on experience to identify, name and relate different kinds of fruit that they come across in in their day to day life. Apart from making fruit salad, the children enjoyed the juices of some fruits like sweet lime & pineapple which the teacher made for them fruit can be made in to jam, juice and can be added in cakes etc.

Rakhi Celebrations On August 12, 2011

Raksha bandhan is specially the festival of sentiments. A bond which ties two people with a responsibility for each other. As it has now crossed the restriction between only brother and sister, Rakhi is now a days tied between guru and his disciple, two brothers, two sisters, 2 friends or parents and child. The children of GIIS celebrated the festival by tying rachis to their classmates on 12/08/2011 and spread oneness among them.

Red Day Celebrations

“Red” is the most stimulant colour that is liked by most of the kids. Red colour day was celebrated on 4th July, 2011 at GIIS Uppal,campus to introduce the colour concept as well as to grab the attention of the children. The teachers and children were dressed in “red” to suggest speed combined with confidence.

GIIS Master Chef Competition 2011-12

Most people use the term "master chef" usually to apply to anyone that’s good at cooking. This has been made true by our students of classes VI,VII,VIII and IX. Various culinary arts were displayed by the students. It was a difficult task for the judges to give away the best in this competition. The nutritive value, presentation and taste were the areas where the children were judged. In the last the judges felicitated the chefs by presenting them an apron and the baker’s cap.

Republic Day Celebrations - 2010-11

62nd Republic Day at GIIS, Uppal on 26th January, 2011 The entire fraternity of GIIS, Uppal gathered together in the campus and celebrated India’s Republic Day on January 26th , 2011. The Chief Guest of the day, the Executive Vice-Chairman, Mr. Maganti Narasimha Murthy, also the founder of ARCA Education Society had a review of the School’s parade led by Head Boy Master. Ashish Raj and hoisted the National Flag, marking an opening to the day celebrations. The students exhibited their splendid performances displaying different drills and dancing to the famous patriotic songs “Vandemataram” and “Jai Ho”. The Chief Guest, Mr. Muthy addressed the gathering, expressed his gratitude to our national leaders because of whom we are enjoying independence today and acknowledged the importance of the constitution formulated by Dr. B.R Ambedkar. Mr. Murthy also urged the students to prepare well for their fast approaching final exams.

Team Building

A workshop on Team building has been conducted by the management of Arca education society(AES) on 13.2.10 for all teachers by Dr. A.M. Rao, V.P-HR, Satyam Venture, Hyd. Dr. Rao is a well known personality in teaching field along with his vast experience in HR industry. He has a rich experience of 17 years in manufacturing industry and 13 years of experience in software industry. He is also a visiting faculty for IIPM, ASCI, Vignan group of institutions,Asia Graduate School Of Business etc. The workshop was for full day and divided into class room and out bound learning activities. The workshop touched various aspects like methodology of teaching, collaboration , team building, and improving the motivational levels of the team ARCA. At the end mementos were presented to all the participants by Mr. M. Narasimha Murthy, Founder and General secretary of AES. The programme was also attended by Mr. Satya Prasad, President- AES & Mr. D. N. Rao, Principal.
