Nap Ford Community Garden

Get Active Orlando helped created a community garden at the Nap Ford Community School. Robert Bowden, from Leu Gardens, and volunteers helped plant the garden and students maintain it.

Bike Giveaway at Orange County Health Department

Get Active Orlando gave away 10 bikes to Orange County Health Department clients, along with lights, locks, helmets and safety education. We combined the event with the unveiling of their first floor renovations and client appreciation event.

2007 Florida Pro Bike/Pro Walk Conference

Get Active Orlando presented/attended the 2007 Florida Pro Bike/Pro Walk Conference, held in Orlando, Florida. Other partners present included: Florida Bicycle Association, Metroplan Orlando, Orange County Health Department, Rippe Health Assessment and City of Orlando - Transportation.

Parramore Heritage Park Opening

The community came together to celebrate the opening of Parramore Heritage Park. Get Active Orlando was there to hand out free pedometers to citizens and City of Orlando employees.

PKZ Pedaling 4 Pride Bike Ride

Confiscated bikes and bikes left on busses were donated by the Orlando Police Department and Lynx, repaired by the Florida Freewheelers and distributed to Parramore Kid Zone teens. Teens and childrens from the Parramore neigbhorhood were invited to ride along on a community ride.

BIke Giveaway at Orange County Health Department

Confiscated bikes were donated by the Orlando Police Department, repaired by the Florida Freewheelers and distributed to Orange County Health Department clients. Bike racks were also installed at OCHD by the City of Orlando.

Street Assessment

One of the first projects that Get Active Orlando worked on was a street assessment of Downtown Orlando streets. Over one hundred volunteers help determine the walkability and bikability of Orlando streets. The assessment results were used as a basis for the current Downtown Orlando Transportation Plan.
