I started to plan a story about the devi. My Grandmother helped me choreograph the story as a dance :)
a wild bull
falls in love with a man
and they bear a man-bull
named Mahisa
he is a devout bhakta
but he has a lot of anger
so he asks for a boon
he wants to be able to kill anybody by touching them on the forehead
but when his boon is granted he kills the god who granted it
he rampages through heaven
chasing the gods here and there
some escape
and beseech the three major deities to create a savior
they dance
and make Durga - the invincible aspect Siva
the ocean gives her a tiger in a lotus flower
when she roars Mahisa hears her - he is ready for battle
so he sends troops to attack (the poem has a lot of bloody battles)
here is a summary of the story: http://www.sivanandaonline.org/graphics/activities/navaratri_04/chapter-2.htm
the sloka is here - http://www.geocities.com/malibutemple/slo-mahi.htm
and the translated poem is here: http://sdbbs.tripod.com/devi.html
in my version (different from the orginal) Mahisa kills her tiger and is so smitten by her power that he wants to marry her
so she says, "i'll marry you if you dance with me first"
and while copying her moves, (like a Hindi movie)
she touches her own forehead, and he follows, killing himself!
he is ultimately her son, so she mourns his death
