01010004 — This is a picture taken the first time I went to Haeundae Beach - in January? -, which is the most popular beach in Busan. The area is one of the most popular with foreigners - because of the beach, of course. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010005 — The Pacific Ocean... stretching in the distance. I really need to get a better camera. I need one that compensates well for my lack of natural steadiness. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010006 — For a guy growing close to the Saint-Lawrence River, it's slightly unsettling to gaze at the endless sea. It's hard to describe. It stretches your mind in an almost painful way. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010007 — People on the beach. I just wanted to show that the beach was frequented even in the middle of winter. The temperature was probably around 5 degrees Celcius. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010008 — The Haeundae skyline is relatively typical of Busan. The area near the beach has many hotels. In the rest of the city, you'll see buildings of roughly the same size, but they are appartment buildings instead. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010009 — I never felt comfortable on either side of a camera. A picture of me next to a big sand dolphin! I was there... (I'm not just grabbing these pictures from the net. :P) (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010010 — A big sand Buddha!!! As you probably know, South Korea is roughly half Buddhist and half Christian. I'm not sure who the flowers are for. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010011 — Cute doggy. By the way, these sculptures were not made by kids. Korean kids are really good at drawing and arts in general, but these were made by an older man. (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010012 — I don't know the people on this picture. I was merely playing the tourist and taking pictures of the sand sculpture. I'm glad to have them there though because the people are what makes any country. Koreans are really nice. I'm glad I "dropped by"... :P (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010013 — I thought I'd take another one... (South Korea, Busan, Haeundae)
01010036 — Somewhere else... This is a view from the cable car in Oncheonjang, which is only one subway stop from my appartment in Busan. The view, of course, gets better and better as you go up. (South Korea, Busan, Oncheonjang)
01010086 — A nice little temple near Busan National University. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010087 — A nice little temple near Busan National University. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)

01010091 — Figurines on a rock near the temple. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010140 — Busan during the cherry blossoms in April... The whole city turns white for a couple of weeks. It's really beautiful. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010141 — Another picture of cherry trees. The place is close to the Busan National University. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)

01010148 — Another picture of cherry trees. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010149 — Another picture of cherry trees. As I said, the whole city pretty much turns white for a couple of weeks. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010150 — Another picture of cherry trees. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010151 — Another picture of cherry trees. (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)
01010152 — A closer look at cherry tree flowers... I'm glad the picture is good. I wanted you all to get a decent idea of how it looked. :D (South Korea, Busan, Busan National University)

DSC00194 — A small temple near Busan National University. Barbara took the picture. (Frank, Busan, South Korea, Busan National University)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 1 — Kyeongju (or Gyeongju). There is no universally accepted way of writing Korean names with the Western alphabet, so the exact spelling can vary from person to person. If you don't know the Korean alphabet, it can be really confusing. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 10 — I hope this shows well on the web. It's a sign that describes a cool astronomical observatory that I saw in Gyeongju. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 11 — National Treasure No. 31 - Gyeongju Chemseongdae - It is the oldest observatory in East Asia. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 12 — Another picture of the same... (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 13 — I just really wanted to make sure I'd get at least *one* good picture of it. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 14 — One of Kyeongju's museums. I like its architecture. It feels... royal. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 15 — Helen on the left and Barbara on the right. My apologies to Helen's dog for that lonely Sunday it had to suffer due to Barbara and I. Helen said that she'll bring you along the next time. ;-) (South Korea, Gyeongju, Friends)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 16 — This is a reproduction of a really famous Buddhist pagoda, if I remember correctly. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 17 — Another picture of the same pagoda. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 18 — I think that bell is also a reproduction. The original is at the temple in Kyeongju. I'll need to go visit the temple soon. (We were too late the day we went.) (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 19 — The bell again, closer. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 2 — Gyeongju is a city with a lot of history. It has many tombs of old kings. The weather was pretty cloudy so everything looks kind of gray. Fortunately, Kyeongju is only an hour away from Busan and the bus there and back is really cheap. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 20 — Helen again, and the big bell. (South Korea, Gyeongju, Friends)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 21 — Barbara and the bell. The structure holding the bell was interesting too. Its forms were pleasing to the eye. (South Korea, Gyeongju, Friends)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 3 — The big mounds that you see behind the souvenirs shop are ancient tombs built in such a way as to preserve the bodies of the kings they harbour, a bit like Egyptian pyramids. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 4 — There were many tombs like this one. I'm not sure how many in total, but at least ten, for sure. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 5 — Bamboo... I was expecting to see duelling ninjas at every corner of that little path, but no luck. I blame it on the rain. :P (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 6 — More bamboos... (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 7 — Out of the (small) bamboo jungle and on our way back home. The hills lost in the fog beyond the tombs reminded me of some old Japanese movies I have seen. (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 8 — More tombs... (South Korea, Gyeongju)
GyeongjuSpring06 - 9 — More tombs... (South Korea, Gyeongju)
SK_Busan_Apt - 1 — My Busan appartment. The whole place is about... maybe... 15'x15'x12' high? Plus a closet-sized bathroom. What you see there is Dr. Fire, my boiler, toaster-oven and telephone. I thought I might have a phone line, but the school didn't set one up, so the phone is pretty much useless, sadly. I guess it makes more sense for foreign teachers to simply grab a cell phone. I don't like cellphones though, so I got SkypeOut instead. It's not quite as good, but it's enough for me and it's sooooo much cheaper. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 10 — My Busan appartment. Near the bed on the second floor, there is a small alcove that I use as storage. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 11 — My Busan appartment. The stairs to the first floor. They are rather steep. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 12 — My Busan appartment. The stairs to the second floor, some storage space, the little round table that I never use, the fridge and the entrance on the right. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 13 — My Busan appartment. Another view of the lower floor. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 14 — My Busan appartment. Lower floor. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 2 — My Busan appartment. My ramen-cooking corner... :P On the right, you can see my closet... hmm... bathroom. Ovens aren't popular in South Korea. I guess most families have one, but small appartments usually don't, hence why I bought a small toaster oven. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 3 — My Busan appartment. My fridge. For some reason, I think the picture makes it look smaller than it actually is. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 4 — My Busan appartment. Yes, I brought suits and ties to South Korea. Both were overkill. I should have brought much more casual clothes. Basically, anything classier than jeans and t-shirts. Oh! Well... Next time, I'll ask about the dress code instead of assuming that I know what it is. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 5 — My Busan appartment. My closet-sized bathroom. It's about 4'x4'. To take a shower, I just close the door and the room is my shower. I don't really mind, but it doesn't compare in any way with the Rainbow's bathroom. The bathtub there was as big as my appartment's whole bathroom!!! (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 6 — My Busan appartment. Another picture of the bathroom. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 7 — My Busan appartment. That's where I keep my clothes. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 8 — My Busan appartment. This is the second floor of my appartment. It's a half-floor in the sense that it's only about 4' high and only half of the appartment's lower floor's surface. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)
SK_Busan_Apt - 9 — My Busan appartment. As you can see, the second floor only covers about half of the lower floor, so you can look at the the lower floor from upstairs. (South Korea, My Places, Appartments, Busan)

SK_Busan_DP - 13 — Another close look at the monument. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)

SK_Busan_DP - 24 — A closer look at the harbour below... (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)

SK_Busan_DP - 3 — This is one of Busan's most famous hotels. It has an architecture similar to that of Korean Buddhist temples. It's pretty neat. I'll have to go take a look inside though. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)
SK_Busan_DP - 30 — Another view of the harbour. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)
SK_Busan_DP - 31 — Another view of the harbour. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)

SK_Busan_DP - 38 — The entrance to Jagalchi - Busan's World Famous Fish Market!!! Obviously, it's a good place to buy fish, but there are also tons of great (fish and seafood) restaurants. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)
SK_Busan_DP - 39 — The picture of the bridge on the sign was most probably taken from Democracy Park. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)
SK_Busan_DP - 4 — Another picture of the hotel. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)
SK_Busan_DP - 40 — The entrance to Jagalchi - Busan's World Famous Fish Market!!! (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)

SK_Busan_DP - 42 — Barbara. The stairs going up to the monument. It's wheelchair-accessible too, hence the stairs' strange shape. (South Korea, Busan, Friends, Democracy Park)
SK_Busan_DP - 43 — The view once you climb the stairs to the monument. From there, the view is breath-taking pretty much in all directions. It's my favourite place in Busan. (South Korea, Busan, Democracy Park)
