This year we took our first cutting of asparagus. And the cabbages haven't filled out much but are very sweet and crunchy
We didn't cut much asparagus for the first year. The fronds are growing VERY tall!
Marlo enjoying the sunshine by the pond
The mint and cornflowers have taken over
And the irises are very cheerful
We cut almost all the pond plants out and just left a bit of water mint and some water forget-me-nots
Walking up the path
Up on the allotment, the onions and shallots need weeding
But the potatoes are coming along very well
The first plantings are up and buoyant
And the rhubarb is MIGHTY!
Looking across over the rhubarb into Colin's allotment
This is where The Under-gardener had the middle bit ploughed and rotorvated
And now he is digging his way up. We're planning to use it for fruit, and a shed and compost heap
Meanwhile, back in the garden, the cabbages *finally* came to life
Even the cauliflowers finally flowered
and the peas and broad beans have been doing splendidly.
And we've been getting ready for the chickens to arrive
The Builder bought and assembled a flat-pack coop
And has built a run
We're now ready for them. And they should be coming tomorrow :-)
