Dan & Fred in the train from Paris (Austerlitz) to Brives-la-Gaillarde
Figeac: back to a nice hotel where we stopped last year
It was so hot in Figeac!
Figeac has an interesting enlarged reproduction of the Rosetta stone...
Ok, one more drink before the walk! the market place in Figeac is lovely
Tired? slept only 3 h the night before, in order to finish a grant application...
We passed on the same path last year - except that an old advertisement leaflet that was pinned on the board is now missing. Ah, time is causing irremediable damages ....
Beware of the DOG!
A monster is waiting to catch us...
End of a long day walking: washing done, just waiting for the dinner time!
Zillions of flies and wasps were crawling on this bush, attracted by the honeydew from colonies of aphids
May be you can see yellowish aphids under the leaves and on the branch
This is la Mairie...
The next day, it was raining. And we met many pilgrims...
Finding this auberge was such a relief - after a long day walking under a cold and dense rain, when we arrived at the village: no more gîte...
Faire Chabrot! an interesting custom there...
The cathedral in Cahors
Impressive bridge when leaving Cahors
A legend says that the devil prevented people to finish the bridge: he came at night and was removing stones...
Still a long way to go...
a nest of caterpillars...
This young lady came from Strasbourg
unusual memorial - usually, war memorials are devoted to the first and the second world war
On our way, we met also Baptiste, a french hiker on his way to the Pyrennées
Baptiste evantually prepared hot tea! he was really our friend then!!!
Baptiste, Fred and Dan; and a german biker (on the right) who came all the way down from Germany and aimed at reaching St Jean Pied de Port
Sharing wine with this gentleman from Germany, and another from Manheim - a real connaisseur of wines from all countries (France, Australia, South Africa, Chili, California, etc).
le Causse
Wouah! food and hot drinks just when we needed it!
Working! on an Atlantis project: SAGECROP...
Mud mud mud!
Picnic in a cafe in Lauzerte!
a fake window! (on the right)
Wine tasting in Cahors...
We met an interesting combination of people here: a Canadian bus driver, a retired driller (to find water), a greek carpet seller (from Turkey, Iran, etc) and an "avocat general"; notwithstanding the owner of the place who was a champion in bike racing!
End of the road. Harry's feets are sore... But not so bad as last year!
This Canadian couple was amazing: full of life, energy, curiosity, smiles, kindness... We loved them!
Valerie! she heard us discussing about duct tape and simply stopped by and engaged conversation...
Gloomy day; we are back to Cahors and heading for the train.
Ha ha: the "pastis" - a local traditional pastry we are about to discover.
Mmmm - stuffed with apples and with a lot of honey (and alcohol?) on the bottom
