Las Delicias, Las Animas and El Rosario are three small, semi-rural villages of over 8,000 people located in the eastern San Salvador. About 87% of its population purchases its water from trucks carrying water from one of the most contaminated rivers in El Salvador, paying close to 30% of their income. Over the past several years, these three communities successfully drilled three wells, constructed three tanks, a cistern, and formed a water board. This project seeks to partner with ENLACE, an NGO based out of El Salvador (www.enlaceonline.org), and the benefic iary communities to accomplish the following objectives: design and construct a 4th distribution tank, design energy efficient pump stations for the system, and explore alternative means of pumping water.
