It all started here - R10
Made rear wheel arches broader to take wheel and gear
Rough beginning
Sort of?
Was'nt happy with the vents so stripped them out.
Side view after stripping and cutting in the side intakes
First attempt at front wheel vents, and much disgusted to find they are facing the wrong way - scrap!!!
This is another way of making accurate vents. Use a tool as pictured - available from jewellery makers supplies. They come in various sizes and angles.
Now mark out the spacing of the vents on plastic card.
But the card up against something square that you can hold and with the drill rotating push the card into the bit to the required depth
Draw the card towards you to make the cut
Raise the drill press table until the bit lines up with the next line and make another cut as before
I printed the cars profile onto clear film, cut pieces of card and glue them to the film, When you now flip the film over the outline of the vent is visible and can be cut to size accurately
Vents done!!!
Test fit on car
Added the tail fin - 2009 LeMans version
Side intakes being reformed more accurately
Again with clear film the part of body that covers intakes is cut out and test fitted
Glue the film to plastic card and cut out
Glue to body and using Nick's Wall n All goop (here we call it plaster of paris) fill the gaps
Added the middle plate to create two intakes
Sand paper for the thousandth time
Bit more primer and test fitting top vents, getting there slowly but surely
More vents behind the front wheeks. The vents are driving me nuts!!!!
Good old plastic card!
Wet primer! Wondering if the nose is going to mould properly - how deep can one go?
New Ground plate
Blue gills for the MONSTER!!!!
Huh???
Headlights done.
Hmmm whats next?
Some rear detail
Nobblies on the bonnet and side skirts.
Whatever this was for, I dont know - but it is on the Lemans 2009 car.
Testing the figure for height- in the R10 - same interior for R15
Looks about right.
The interior for the R15. Nice and small - small wieght!!
Test fitting the scoops and wing.
Again? Out of focus - after the third Beer only.
This is the wing for the R10 - still to be made smaller (narrower) for the R15 and diffirent uprights.
Focus on the fuel cap!!
Preparing to mould the difuser.
Preparing the intrior for moulding.
Ready for the mould I think.
Vroooooooooom!!!!!!!! The scoop needs trimming - too big
This is getting exciting now!!
Interior, Wing and Difuser in one mould. These will turned into Resin and Aluminium powder mix masters for vacuum forming.
Outch!! looks terrible. Gery gel coat and black laminate - hence the black spots.
Bit of the wrong colour - but looks better. Surprise is that the front guide fits in perfectly, and the rear clears the motor completely.
Should look OK with some red and black on it.
Finally found some to paint a bit.
