The courtyard of our hotel
Where we stayed: Hotel Antigua in Miraflores, a district / suburb of Lima
Judy's tasty lunch at Costanera 700
My lunch at Costanera 700. This was seriously the best seafood I have ever had in my life. I ate tentacles with the suckers still on them!
The coffee in Peru was very thick
Still life of post-lunch in Peru
Sipping said thick Peruvian espresso
View of the coast line
We hiked down and back up the windy path to the beach.
I have a thing about photographing my feet at cool places around the world
Fair warning: there's a series of several rocks shots.
It was a bit chilly!
I loved the texture of these rocks!
Marking our spot on the beach
I wasn't going to drink the day after New Year's Eve...but you can't turn down trying out one of the local beers!
It was funny to see people's reaction to Peruvian driving. They thought the drivers were crazy. I thought it was tame, compared to the streets of Hanoi!
Nothing says Christmas spirit like Santa and [name your favorite reindeer here] toasting the holiday with a foamy mug o' beer!
One of the stores in Larcomar had weavers working. The tapestries made from alpaca were amazing, just check out the one behind the men!
We couldn't really understand the plaque by this structure, but we think it was a reproduction of some part of Machu Picchu.
The "El Beso" statue in "El Parque del Amor"
Me with Travis, Rachael and Graham. Check out the crazy fog behind us.
El Parque del Amor reminded me so much of Gaudi's Park Guell in Barcelona
Graham, overlooking the cliffs. He kept wanting to run down the side of the cliffs, until he realized that a busy street lay at the bottom.
So very Park Guell, no?
Pensive...
Having fun with the wide-angle lens
It cracked me up that graffiti tags now include web addresses. I looked up imlena.com and it doesn't exist. Fakers.
Gangstas...with shopping bags
Rachael doesn't get to see many palm trees in Kansas.
People were taking surf lessons. Next time I get back, I'm totally learning to surf.
Can you see the kid surfing with the help of his dad? Use the zoom tool to see them better. It was so fun to watch them!
Cusqueña, one of the local beers. This restaurant by Parque Kennedy had orange umbrellas, casting an ugly orange glow over everything, so I gave up trying to make the lighting look natural and resorted to shooting in black & white.
Tasty cabritas (baby goat, cooked northern style). Quite excellent.
Graham, Travis, me & Rachael
Horrors! Even Lima isn't safe from Comic Sans.
Matchy matchy.
