Birthday Celebrations

Pictures from some of the birthday celebrations this past semester. In January we celebrated Lindsey's birthday with a surprise potluck. On April 1st we celebrated Emma's birthday by getting dressed up and going out to a nice buffet dinner at the Sheraton. The following week we celebrated Aaron's birthday by going to a restaurant where you eat in the dark. Then on his actual birthday a few of us went out to a favorite whole in the wall Indonesian restaurant.

Kampung Walk & Bandung Zoo

A group walks to the Bandung Zoo. To get there we have to walk through the kampung, a neighborhood where the local people live, as well as an Indonesian graveyard. There are only a few pictures of the zoo (at that point my battery died) but the walk was the most interesting part anyway.

Idul Adha (Animal Sacrifices)

Idul Adha, a muslim holiday, commemorates when Abraham sacrificed Ishmael in their version of the old testament story. Some of these pictures are pretty graphic, however, this is part of their culture and is a pretty big holiday for them.

Orphanage Trip

At our staff Christmas party this year we gave gifts to a local Christian orphanage. A group of us went one Saturday morning to deliver the gifts. We brought a Christmas tree and together made ornaments to decorate it.

Chu Seok Korean Festival

BAIS has a large Korean population and a Korean parent association who put on a Chu Seok festival at the school this past Friday. It was so much fun and very special to learn about this unique culture that I haven't really been exposed to before.
