The concierge at the Sofia Hotel recommended this little French bistro for breakfast. We wound up having breakfast there every day, as well as a couple of lunches and dinners, too!
My longtime best friend, Shawn (longtime as in, we met in 7th grade!). This was his first con and I believe it's safe to say that he had a blast!
Mario Cau, a wonderful artist from Brazil that I'm working on a submission with even as we speak.
Other than this one, I won't be captioning the obvious.
Trying to capture the sheer size of the San Diego convention Center.
It's so big, it won't fit in one photo!
That would be me, Elton Pruitt, everyone's favorite up-and-coming indie sensation comic book writer! Besides being incredibly good-looking and talented, I'm humble, too ; )
The entrance to the Sofia Hotel. Note the strange guy hanging out there near the entrance.
OMG, that's no guy -- it's a STATUE! But not just ANY statue -- it's a statue of the hotel's owner. One day when we came home from the con, they were having this big hoopty press conference right here in front of the hotel, with police blocking the way, etc. Turns out they were unveiling/dedicating this crazy statue!
Strictly for research purposes.
Kris Simon at the Shadowline booth.
Kris and Jimmie "BOMB QUEEN" Robinson.
This is Kris and Jimmie posing for my candid pic of them.
Chip Mosher of BOOM! Studios and a very nice man that Chip introduced me to, whose name I sadly did not record.
Shadowline Superheroine contest winner Tom Arguello (creator of the forthcoming Incredible Journey comic book) and contest Top 5-er Kat Cahill (creator of the forthcoming I Hate Galaxy Girl comic book). Not only am I incredibly jealous of these two crazy cats, but they were both very cool and nice people to get to meet and chat with a bit.
I have no idea why I thought this was such a great thing to take a photo of. Might've been the beer at that nifty li'l Irish pub!
Yes! The coolest place in walking distance of the con (shhh, don't tell, though -- I don't want to find half the con-goers hanging here next summer)! This little Irish pub serves great lunches, has all the essential beers on tap, and an entirely lovely atmosphere. A great place to take a break from the con flloor and catch a second wind.
The Hyatt bar.
More of the Hyatt bar.
My friend and artistic collaborator, Mario Cau, and me. Taken by a friend of his.
Mario and me again, this time taken by me -- note the arty composition of this shot!
