Reynosa

Mission trip to a Colonia near Reynosa, Mexico. 29 people from Chase Oaks Church left Plano on 11/21/07 at 6am for Weslaco, Texas, where we stayed at the Best Western Palm Aire. Our three work crews made three trips to the Colonia on Thurs, Fri, and Saturday and built three 12' x 24' shelters for three families in need. My family was on the "red team" which built a shelter for Jose's family. We left Mexico and returned to the hotel in Texas at 1pm on Saturday and then left Weslaco around 4pm. We arrived back in Plano around 2am on Sunday, 11/25/07.

October 2007 Chase Oaks Church Men's trip to New Orleans for Katrina clean up. Photos cannot convey the extent of destruction. It is absolutely overwhelming as you drive around for miles & miles and see this stuff. 80% of New Orleans was under water up to 15 feet high for several weeks. Nearly 1,500 people died. The American Red Cross estimates that more than 350,000 homes were destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, while an additional 146,000 had major damage. Overall, 850,791 housing units were damaged, destroyed or left inaccessible because of Katrina. This is the largest disaster in US history yet the outbreak of the Iraq war has taken media coverage off this ongoing disaster recovery effort in the neighboring state of Louisiana. Speedway

Texas Motor Speedway - Cowtown Vette club hosted this Autocross event. Darren's best lap was a 42.53 second lap on Sunday. He was the 3rd fastest overall at this event, and the top three were the only drivers who clocked time in the 42 second range. That is why he is holding up the four fingers on the right hand and two on the left. The fastest time overall was a 42.22 second lap by Sam, the president of our club who has the other yellow car. Darren won his class for all 10 races and his group for about 5 races since one of the other fast guys was in his group.
