The CQ Contest Hall of Fame #1 took place in September 1986. After the party, the K2GL team operated both modes of CQWW in 1986. In December, I (KR2Q) received the phone call from Buz' secretary..."There is sad news from the hill...." Buz was hosting a party at the Duck Cedar Inn and didn't feel well. He excused himself and collapsed in the entry hall. The room is now named the Hazard E Reeves dining room.
