Back on the trail to tackle Section L. It began verdant and promising.
The Sierra Club's Peter Grubb hut
Up and down the trail went.
Here is a picture of a selectively logged forest. Note how much unwanted debris is left behind. They don't clear the forest to make it safe against fires like they want you to believe. In fact, the forest is now more flammable.
I'm now descending deeply toward Sierra City
Jackson Meadow Reservoir
Rustic bridge
I'm going to have to climb that later
The General Store at Sierra City, the best trail town so far
Main street in Sierra City
Swimming hole at the Yuba River
I chose wine, unfortunately. All I found was 3.5 hours of switchbacks.
Way down there is Sierra City
You can't really see it, but that small dot on the ridge a little up from the tree is Heading Out, another hiker
A closer view of Heading Out standing on the ridge.
Mossy, blurry trees
Packer Lake
These look like the Humboldt Lillies we have in Santa Barbara
Ferns!
A burn area near Quincy
I finally reached Quincy-La Porte road and began the road walk
I got another 3 miles before I finally got a ride. In total, I walked the road from 7am to about 12:30pm, probably about 13 to 16 miles worth.
