There is my signature below Sock Puppet. I thought the guy I saw at the border starting his hike was Sock Puppet, but he was Clockwork Orange, the signature above. Sock Puppet was his ride to the border.
This is the actual start of the trail
This is Tony -- Trailhacker is his trail name. (Piper is mine.) He joined me the first few days.
Lake Morena
There's me, Piper.
We soaked our feet in the creek at Cibbet Flat
Our noisy neighbors at Cibbet Flat. They gave us breakfast burritos to apologize for keeping us up all night.
I would have missed the campground if it wasn't for the note.
Natural water! I preferred to fill up at natural sources when I could rather than man-made ones.
The first few sections had signs indicating where water sources could be found. Most years are drier than the year I went.
This is Rodriguez Spring. I had to walk a mile and a half off the trail to find it, but the water was really nice. I ended up carrying the water I got here all the way across the San Felipe Hills.
Those are the San Felipe Hills with the fog forming behind them. I get to walk their entire length.
This is a rosy boa.
Scissors Crossing cache.
Scissors Crossing is really more of a "Z" shape
Somewhere in that mountain range in the distance is where I camped the previous night and the valley where Rodriguez Spring was located.
This is "Don't Panic"
The pink stuff is Turkish Rugging.
My tent at the sandy wash in the San Felipe Hills. Notice how large the rocks are that hold my tent up. There was wind and rain the night before.
The 3rd Gate cache
People say that Billy Goat slept in this cave, so they call it Billy Goat's Cave.
Barrel Spring is the concrete trough behind the tree. It warmed my heart to see the cooler left there since I was injured all the way since the 3rd Gate Cache. There was no soda in the cooler anymore, but it made me happy to know somebody cared.
The Eagle Rock.
Me at Eagle Rock.
This was one of the few oak woodlands I walked through. There wasn't much oak woodland on the PCT.
Cream cups, owls clover and lupine.
Delphinium
I felt so proud of myself for making it 109 miles! I had never hiked that far in a single trip. This had been the longest trip I had ever taken. Warner Springs would be my first resupply.
My room at Warner Springs. I loved Warner Springs.
The hot spring at Warner Springs. It's too hot to actually go in.
The cold pool is on the left and the hot pool is on the right. It felt wonderful to soak and the water healed my leg injury.
