...
This is the Kroger's near Buffalo Speedway and Highway 59.
The lines went around the corner...
And around the building.
And around the back.
Gas stations closed for several days.
This is the gas station on the Northeast corner of Montrose and Richmond. It was the only gas station for miles. People calmly waited in line.
The gas station would run out of gas around 2pm and the lines would go away until the next day.
Light poles fell down and there was glass everywhere!
No Starbucks, no bagels, no laundry, no pizza, no restaurants, no nail salon.
The patio at Berryhill's got crushed.
No Chinese food, no bank, no haircutting, no ice cream.
This is the local coffee shop. Finding a cup of coffee was not easy. Not a drop for miles!
Did I mention that trees fell everywhere?
When the local Randall's Grocery Store on Shepherd and Westheimer opened it was big news!
In fact, the news WAS there!
The Kroger on Montrose stayed closed for almost six days.
I don't know what these people were doing there...
All the frozen food had to be thrown away.
Too bad it had to go...
Seems like such a waste.
Every grocery store had piles of crap to be discarded.
Assorted juices.
Frozen fruits and veggies not frozen anymore.
Fish sticks and chicken patties.
Dietary microwave dinners.
When the Krogers on Montrose finally opened it was almost completely empty. No frozen anything, no meats, no chicken, no cheese, no dairy, no sausage...
What an incredible sight! It had been four days before a bucket truck even showed up in the area. This guy was only cutting tree limbs. Three long days would pass before the power in my neighborhood was finally restored.
