We decided to take some photos of the San Rafael Reef in Utah, just west of Green River.
There were a number of places to stop and take pictures in the San Rafael area and we took advantage of them all.
This is in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Las Vegas. It is the church Maureen and Mom attended.
This display thanks and honors the donors to the church's building fund.
Maureen was honored for her contribution.
The engraver who was contracted to build this beautiful display hired Kathi to type each name into a template from which he engraved each leaf.
The wall is proof of the small world we live in and that we can be connected and reconnected in remarkable ways.
This is just a couple of quick shots at the new City Center complex in Las Vegas. It's a beautiful new facility, but these are the only photos we got.
We spent a Sunday afternoon with Kathi and Gene at Red Rocks Park near Las Vegas. This plant, common at Red Rocks, makes an intreresting geometric pattern against the blue sky, and was an irresistible photo opp.
Kathi, Jim and Denny all got shots at different times of this magnificent Desert Big Horn. The following are Denny's pictures, but we will merge Jim and Kathi's into the slide show soon.
Mary Ann made sure we got this shot to irritate her sister. We think she made an offer for it, so there may be a fine present in the offing, Rosie. If the next package from Mary Ann is about 12 by 18 by 24, you might want to decline delivery.
We had breakfast with Mary Ann and Bob at the famous Boulder Dam Hotel.
Jim and I browsed around the Goat Feather Emporium in Boulder City.
The following are some photos of the new bridge at the Boulder Dam. It's a huge project.
We spent an hour or so at this county park located right in Los Angeles.
This is the Magic Mountain amusement park located only about a mile from Jill's home at Stevenson Ranch.
We had a nice afternoon with Jill and the kids, and then had breakfast with Jill the next morning.
Next we headed South toward San Diego. We followed the Pacific Coast Highway as much as we could.
Since we had an extra afternoon, we had a chance to bet on a few of the ponies at Santa Anita.
We stopped at Newport Beach for a little while and I had to get this picture. I snapped about 3 photos, but I was a little shy about it because his parents were staying pretty close and keeping an eye on me.
Jim really wanted to stop and have lunch at the famous Torrey Pines golf course. Several pictures follow.
A torrey pine is an evergreen, but it branches like a deciduous tree. Very interesting and very beautiful shapes. This tree is at the entrance to the clulbhouse, so I figured it must the the Official Torrey Pine.
We had our lunch on the patio at the club house. It was a magnificent lunch, very elegantly served and we took an hour or more enjoying it.
One more of the Official Torrey Pine in front of the clubhouse.
Mojave Desert
We traveled through the desert on old Route 66. These markers would pop up every few miles, but it took me awhlle before I nailed a shot.
