View of Mahabalipuram
Behind Melissa is a bathroom with a real toilet, which is cool. However, what is UNCOOL is how when you flush it it GUSHES water at you.
I bought a little turtle necklace that these guys hand-carved out of granite.
Interesting finger jewelery in a shop. There was even more interesting jewelery of the kama sutra style, but I didn't think it was appropriate to post here.
Beach. Cow.
Sweet boats.
One of the many, many stray dogs you'll find everywhere in India. They all kind of look like this, too, which makes for a rather amazing experience on the rare occasion you see a purebred.
This is one of the main beaches in southern India struck by the 2004 tsunami
See the white people? That's us ...

Nagraj, our fantastic driver.
Yep, I peed in there. It was actually one of the better toilet holes I've experienced.
A pristine river... ew.
In any given place, at any given time, no matter how developed the city or street, there's a decent chance you'll see goats, ponies, and monkeys. You will DEFINITELY see cows and dogs. Possibly unicorns.
Good story: This is a section excavated from one of Mahabalipuram's temples. Originally they thought there were 6, but when the tsunami in 2004 sucked the water far, far back before it came pummeling down on the beach, a 7th temple was revealed. After the wave came and went, they went back and found the temple under water and hauled this baby out!

It's too blurry to really see, but this guy's got a monkey in a dress, and he would tap it with a stick and it danced.
Dinner on the beach

This dog has laser-beam eyes.
Most definitely our most gluttonous moment - we splurged on lunch at a 7-star hotel in Chennai ... we could hardly contain ourselves.
Ruth happy with an actual lettuce salad. Eric enjoying fantastic pizza.
And then there was the dessert buffet....
Happy Onam!!!
We shall celebrate with flower petal carpets. So pretty ...
