Joe Dobbs says these tuning pegs are not original and were hand carved. Since Grandpa was a wood carver, I suspect he carved them.
Joe Dobbs who refurbished the fiddle, left two decals on Grandpa's fiddle. This one says :" A Constant Heart is mine"
This is the second decal. I can't tell what the words are but it's doubtlessly very romantic

The fiddle was stored in a "coffin" case which probably protected it from the ravages of time for 80 years
Joe Dobbs found this decal inside the fiddle. Maybe Grandpa intended to put it on the fiddle and never got around to it.
