La Medusa: The Sicilian cart (or carretto Siciliano in Italian and carrettu Sicilianu in Sicilian or carretti (plural)) is an ornate, colorful style of horse or donkey-drawn cart native to the island of Sicily, in Italy. Here you can see a model of one. °°° Il Carretto siciliano (in siciliano carrettu) è un mezzo a trazione equina adibito al trasporto merci, in uso in tutto il territorio siciliano dal XIX secolo fino alla seconda metà del XX secolo, quando divenne obsoleto a causa della crescente motorizzazione del lavoro nelle campagne. Costruito con diverse qualità di legno, spesso fregiato da intagli bucolici e sgargianti decorazioni pittoriche, al giorno d'oggi è divenuto oggetto d'arte artigianale, nonché uno dei simboli dell'iconografia folcloristica siciliana. Messina is the third largest city on the island of Sicily, Italy and the capital of the province of Messina. It is located near the northeast corner of Sicily, at the Strait of Messina, just opposite Villa San Giovanni on the mainland. The main economical resources of the city are: the port (commercial and military), provided with several shipyards; agriculture, that includes the cultivation of lemons, oranges, mandarin oranges, olives and wine production; tourism. The city has been a Roman Catholic Archdiocese and Archimandrite seat since 1548 and is home to a locally important international fair.

Zona Archeologica di Monte Iato

Posto a circa trenta Km a Sud-Ovest di Palermo ed in posizione dominante petto ai centri abitati di S.Cipirello e S. Giuseppe Iato, il Monte Iato (m 852 rispetto a.l.m. ) si eleva maestoso sulla vallata del Fiume Iato e, verso Est, su quella del ramo destro del Fiume Belice. Il sito controlla da una parte il valico di Portella della Paglia, attraverso cui era assicurato l’accesso all’area della Conca d’Oro ed il collegamento con l’antico emporio punico di Panormos, dall’altra la via di percorrenza naturale costituita dalla vallata del Belice, attraverso cui era possibile il collegamento con la costa meridionale dell’isola e con la colonia greca di Selinunte.

Carini (Latin: Hyccara) is a town and comune in the Province of Palermo, Sicily, 13 miles by rail WNW of Palermo. It has a population of 25,752. On the coast are some ruins of the ancient Hyccara, the only Sican settlement (probably a fishing village) on the coast. It was stormed and taken by the Athenians in 415 BC, and the inhabitants, among them the famous courtesan Lais, sold as slaves. At La Grazia Christian catacombs have been found.

Balestrate (Sicilian: Sicciara) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, located about 35 km southwest of Palermo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 5,853 and an area of 3.9 km². Located in Western Sicily, on the rail line between Palermo and Trapani, Balestrate is exactly in the center of the Gulf of Castellamare. In previous times it was where much of the grape crop was grown for the island's famous Marsala wine. Today Balestrate's main industry is fishing and tourism. A small town of nearly 6000 most of the year, Balestrate's population swells up to almost 30,000 during the Summer season with vacationing Europeans and Italians from the colder climates seeking the warm water and sun.

Poggioreale (Sicilian: Poggiuriali) is a small town in Sicily, Italy, set on the Belice valley, which administratively belongs to the province of Trapani. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1968, and eventually rebuilt in a safer place a few kilometers away, causing the entire population to be moved there.

Vita, Sicily

Vita is a town in inland South-Western Sicily, Italy, administratively part of the province of Trapani. It is the smallest municipality area of the province of Trapani (8.88 km² circa). It is also characterized by the second highest altitude in the province, after Erice. The town was founded in the early 17th century, under the Spaniards, by a noble from Calatafimi, Vito Sicomo. The birth of the township was then ratified by King Philip III of Spain on March 11, 1607. In 1860, the town gave its full support to the |Mille led by Giuseppe Garibaldi. In the arly 1900s, the city reached its highest population, with 6,000 inhabitants circa. More recently, its inhabitants have slowly left the town in order to move towards Northern Italy and foreign countries, with possibly its largest emigrant community located in Toronto. Vita was heavily damaged by an earthquake in 1968, and rebuilt in a new urban zone, close to the old one.

We go out with different boats (zodiac or fiberglass). And the best off all: since 2006 our dive spots are all situated in a nature reserve, controlled by WWF.

Young, but on the scenes already from years, demands in order to create scenografie in the film "the Return of Cagliostro" of Ciprì and Maresco. In the 2002 for the review "Theatre and Dance". To the Biennial of Venice 2002 they have collaborated with Scimeca and Roberta Torre. They have prepared the scenes of the show "Palermo can Wait" of Ciprì and Maresco, it has been on competition to the Biennial of Venice. And for the occasion a gigantic Sicialian Cassata (theyr creation) has been put in beautiful exposition to the airport of Palermo to welcoming who landed and to give a smile for who lefts.

Alcamo, Sicily

Alcamo was founded in 828 by the Muslim commander al-Kamuk (after whom it is named), though other sources date its origin to c. 972. The original Christian settlement, definitively abandoned in the 14th century, was located where remains of a tower and a water reservoir (Funtanazza) can be seen in the neighbourhood.

Stromboli (Greek: Strongyle) is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily. This name is a corruption of the ancient Greek name Στρογγυλή (Stroŋgulē) which was given to it because of its round swelling form. The island has a population of between 400 and 750. The volcano has erupted many times, and is constantly active with minor eruptions, often visible from many points on the island and from the surrounding sea. The last major eruption was in November 2007.

Caccamo, Sicily

The official founding of Caccamo was not until 1093, when the Normans began building the castle on a rocky spur overlooking a cliff. The castle itself is actually now being slowly converted into a conference center. Submerged within the lake is a stone bridge built in 1307 on the road that once linked the town with Palermo. The city holds an 11th-century attractive cathedral, that was remodeled in 1477 and 1614. On the side of the cathedral are two churches. The Chiasa dell'Anime del Purgatorio features some stucco work in the eastern end and an 18th-century organ. In the downstairs are musty catacombs where the skeletons of a number of townspeople lie in niches along the wall, a burial practice that lasted from the 17th century up to 1863. Since the 1950s the town itself has lost almost half of its inhabitants to emigration.Caccamo holds some great views of the surrounding countryside, including the Rosmarina artificial lake which was created by a controversial dam built in 1993.

Solunto, Sicily

Solunto or Solus was an ancient city of Sicily, one of the three chief Phoenician settlements in the island, situated on the north coast, about 18 km east of Panormus (modern Palermo), and immediately to the east of the bold promontory called Capo Zafferano. It lay 200 m above sea level, on the southeast side of Monte Catalfano (380 m), in a naturally strong situation, and commanding a fine view. Some scholars contend that Soluntum and Solus were two different cities at close quarters, Soluntum, higher upon the hillside, being a later habitation displacing the earlier settlement of Solus, at a lower elevation. Its current site is at the località of Solanto in the comune of Santa Flavia.
