The little lad . . . destined eventually to become 'BigPete'
Stradbrook, Blackrock: First Communion day -- May 1958
Oatlands Primary School, 4th class -- year 1961/1962. The teacher (on right) is Mr McGreal. Our cousin Eamonn is in front row (4th from left), cousin Tony, sadly deceased, is in front row also (6th from left), and Peter is in back row (4th from left). Our teacher had a few 'unusual' traits; all/every activities in the class were 'competition driven' . . . and this even extended to the morning break sessions in the yard -- where he had squads of us marching around, doing the 'goose-step'. Verrrrryy strange!
June 1968: NOT a recruiting photo for the Provo IRA. The FCI actually allowed us to bring home functional .303 Lee Enfield rifles. My number was: 772410
June 1968: FCA Guard of Honour for Corpus Christi parade. Our cousin Tony is 3rd to the right of me. Bayonets were provided on the day. Officer in charge was/is Lt. Patrick Rochford. This FCA unit, part of the 5th Battalion, operated out of Oatlands College, Stillorgan. I've digitally 'cleaned'/removed the rubbish from the roadside.
Ballinaclash Strand, July 1968: Anja
Monday morning, July 21st, 1969, approx 3.50am: Tony and I watched the Moon landing in Ivan Lynch's chalet at Ballyconigar. I seem to remember that it was near impossible to make out what we were actually looking at on the tiny TV. So, the poor quality of this image matches our experience on that night. It was a long, strange, memorable night. At one stage, we were playing pitch 'n' putt, in the pale moonlight, on the little course that Ivan and Micko had created along the top of the dunes. Mom and Dad were back in Winters' chalet/hut, with the other lads, and Grandad . . . fast asleep.

There is a personal anecdote about this particular 'posed' photo
May 1980: halfway up the front summit of Alpe d'Huez. Taking part in the La Clusez Rally with Billy
The caption says it all. 'Peter, if you plan it, and organise it . . . . . they will come and play, and you will be a winner, my Son.' And so it came to pass!
It was only right and fitting that BigPete should accept the trophy, from Todd, on behalf of his winning team. And what a spell-binding acceptance speech there then followed!
