The old letters were in need of paint also. Actually, they need to be replaced, but that will have to come in another project (anyone interested?).
Does it seem a bit overgrown to you?
The North side of the street had weeds and overgrown grass in the planter box for far too long. The need for renovation was seen by a local resident named Jamie.
How is that for an entrance to a neighborhood? Not too pleasant, huh.
Here is a picture of a dead bird who has made the planter box his final resting place.
Unkempt landscaping is a hot bed for trash. To any passerbys, please don't litter like this.
This is Janel. She has decided to work on the other corner. She is partnering together with another resident named Ruth.
This corner has had overgrown plants for far too long. It is now time for this corner to match the Northern corner. Not only will this help a main entrance look great, but it will compliment the nice looking median that the City just put in.
Jamie repainted the Cordova Towne lettering, pulled weeds, and replaced the weeds with beautiful looking plants. The corner is now very attractive thanks to one All-Star Resident. Way to go!!!!
Not very attractive.
Looks better, huh?
Rich is a digging machine.
Janel is working hard.
Let's say thanks to Rich & Janel for their hard work to pull out these plants.
The next step is taking place. 03/07/08. Three residents are beginning to plant roses and other plants in the Southern planter. The Northern planter will match the Southern one too eventually (by late April 2008 - that's the plan).
They are doing great work that we all benefit from.
On 04/08/2008 two residents installed "Cordova Towne" letters on the Southern corner of Mather Field & Croydon Way. David and his daugther gave us a tremendous gift. This surely took hours to do (tracing Northern corner, cutting wood, sanding, painting, installing, finishing work).
The letters and the landscaping together help this corner look tremendous. Great work everyone.
Both corners now say "Cordova Towne" as they used to say until 2-3 years ago when a vehicle knocked down the Soutnern brick wall (and the letters were never replaced).
The Northern corner with new landscaping.
Southern corner.
