Japanese camp
Somewhere on the hill....
Struggling....
Chris about 2/3 up a very long, steep section between camp 1 and 2
It never ends...even when you get to the top, it keeps going...
a hole....
Chis fixing Paul's radio which had falled off the back....!
A loaded Sherpa from another team moving up....
Arriving at camp 1 - on our summit attempt....day 1 of 6 stressful days.
Resting at camp 1 - will stay overnight.
A very ong way to go!!!
What was left of camp 2- tents were 10 or more below the snow....destroyed and we recovered nothing...
Big holes at camp 2 - we camped around them.......they became the biggest latrines on the mountain!
A daily task taking hours.....melting snow for water!
Camp 3 - ready to move!!! the wind looks a bit much tho....
We are ready to move - but we have to wait - a huge number of people come past- another team is supposed to put ropes to camp 4 - so we wait for them to come...
Paul ready to go in down suit!
So the leading team decided to stop on the ice cliff - snow was too dangerous - they retreated and about 100 people retreated also....so no ropes to camp 4 - what will we do?
They all retreated the scumbags......leaving our sherpas to put up the ropes and break trail - they did and we went up to camp 4!!
And then after one night at camp 4 - to the summit and here is my summit photo!!!
and a summit photo with a Purdue flag
And the view is amazing from the top...
The 5 Sherpas and our guide Adrian (center) who made the summit....
Camp 4 was in a small gully
There was not a lot of room for camp 4 - this was on the return from the summit.
and then down the ice slopes and down to camp 3 which is that flyspot right in the very center of the photo...its a loooooooong way down...
down down down...
I guess I though the clouds were nice...otherwise its a very boring photo...
Chris going down and someone else going up!!
A lamington in Katmandu - the most magnificent coffee and cake ever!
Where did he come from - back to the summit??
