feather-light - ignore the bizeps, I am just posing ;-)
about 150 km into it, still smiling
trying to do a nice bugface, but the pace wasn't high enough
what the - still smiling? well maybe the nice weather
I spent most of the day with this guy, in the end he had to walk his bike up the last, steepest mountain pass
well ain't that a nice scenery?
here it is, the last mf bi*** - that last climb was tough (check the last parts of the video)
this was one of the flatter sections, the whole climb was about 800 m altitude change within 6 km, after having done already about 180 km and 3000 m climbing altitude (and yes, that is fresh snow in the background)
10% maybe?
we pulled ourselves up together, it was really nice to have "company" although we didn't talk that much ...
done, victory, almost 1 h faster than I had planned (total specs: 222 km, 4620 altitude, avg. about 24 km/h, max speed 72 km/h, 4 cereal bars, two chocolate bars, about 5 l of water, no blood, no tears, but a lot of sweat)
yes, Team Tati rules
my fans, who filmed part of it on the motorbike, and brought me apfelstrudel when there was no more sugar in my body, just pain out
re-enactment of the finishing photo, my girlfriend wasn't fast enough to do the shot when I arrived, sprinting (well sort of, it was more of a "trying to go a bit faster" - besides I didn't want to punish the guy who had dragged me all the way up on the last climb
from www.alpenbrevet.ch, GoldTour - imagine how much faster I could have been if I hadn't put on my Dumbo ears that day ... and I wanted to point to the Tati logo on the right chest, like this it turned into an IBEX commercial. Which is more than ok given that animal kept me quite warm in the rather bad weather
well hell yes this was tiring - who said indomitable???
done, pretty exactly 8:30 h, placing in the top 10%ish - but a Brevet is a Brevet, so everyone is a winner, and I was really happy to have done so well. Next year: Platinum (270 km, 7000-ish elevation change)
