We got incredibly dusty on the drive down - this is Chris very brown with dust (and making a funny face)
The ferry crossing on the way to the park. The ferry is essentially pulled across by the current of the river.
Our vehicle on the ferry crossing quite a big river on our way to OK park.
OK park - we've arrived!
View of some of the cabins from our cabin

This lizard was first inside our bednet, and then spent a lot of time on top of it once we shooed him out from underneath
The “museum” at the park. Hippo skulls and info.
Monkeys - they were in the trees right outside our guesthouse

One of the old camp buildings - all the facilities here were destroyed by rebels during the war and have since been rebuilt.

You can still see the bullet holes in the safe, just above the lock, from when the rebels attacked here.
This is called a flamboyant tree
Flamboyant tree leaves
Canoe on the river
Taken from the canoe - the huge trees are cotton trees and there are many big ones in SL. Must be hundreds of years old. They're amazing trees.

After seeing no hippos in the river, we pulled up to walk a hippo trail

More monkeys - they throw oranges down from the tree and then sit on the ground eating them.

Vines in the bush
Jungle walk - this walk is called “elephant safari”. We didn't see any elephants, but we did see some tracks. It was quite the bushwhack though.

View from halfway up the hill
At the top of the hill there is a viewing platform - great view of the area around.

Monkey! (see how huge the tree trunks are??)
Moths - at night they would land all over anything fabric that we left outside
Stopped in Kamakwie on our way home (for way too long!) and had lunch at Nancy's - a picture of the two Nancys together
