Ferry from Lungi to Freetown - cars on the lower area.
Riding on the back of a laden poda poda. I wonder how far this gentleman was going and how much he would pay for this ride?
A poda poda (taxi van) on the highway from Freetown to Makeni. They are usually quite laden down :-)
Crossing the one lane bridge over the Rokel on the way back to Mapaki from Freetown.
Lots of passengers!
The ferry in Lungi - waiting to board
A muddy road. The pictures don't really do it justice . . .
We passed a truck deeply stuck in the mud (luckily that same fate did not befall us!) - these guys were helping to dig it out.
You can see how far down in the mud it was in this photo.
Passengers on the highway to Bo. This vehicle was going at least 60 or 70 km/hour.
These boats were loading at the Kissy ferry terminal and are an alternative mode of crossing over to Lungi. Quicker, but potentially more dangerous, and quite a bit more expensive.
Checking the stability of this “bridge” before the truck drove across
Gas pump in Makeni - pumped manually!
The ferry crossing on the way to the park. The ferry is essentially pulled across by the current of the river.
Our vehicle on the ferry crossing quite a big river on our way to OK park.
