Longest Walk2 2008

The final destination of the Longest Walk 2 was Washington, D.C. Here they met with several Congressmen and the head of Homeland Security to discuss current events such as the building of the wall between Mexico and the US and the drilling for Uranium in beautiful landscape of the Grand Canyon. On July 12 & 13 the walkers celebrated reaching their destination by arranging a Pow Wow on the grounds in front of the American Indian Museum and the Capitol. Danny Glover & Harry Belfonte came out in support of their cause. Here are a few photos I took in D.C. during the Pow Wow. Gabe

This is my grandson. He is full of energy and has quite the imagination at times. This was his first year of tball. Watching 5 year olds learning how to play the sport of baseball was humorous at times. Gabe also turned 6 this year and for his birthday his mom & dad, paps & grandmas went together and got him a small ATV. He was very delighted to say the least about his gift.

St. Thomas, US Virgin Island

St. Thomas is by far Dan and I favorite island of the whole cruise. This island is so beautiful and is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands. We took a tram car to Paradise Point where we could get an overview of the island. The pictures just don't show the breath taking beauty of St. Thomas.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten is a very beautiful island. The turquoise water, as all the islands had, was so beautiful. Skip, Derrick, Dan, and I jet skied while Cristal soaked up the sun. It was so much fun. Afterwards, we did some shopping.

Curacao

Oh Curacao!! I really liked this island. It is so colorful. Here Dan and I explored the Old Fort Rif and learned that the island was a major slave transshipment center in 1634. Curacao is a Dutch acquisition. While walking from one shore to the other bells and whistles went off and people began to run. Dan and I stood dumbfounded, then we felt the bridge move! That was enough to get us moving. Dan and I rushed to get to the other side and watched the large military freighter move through. That was the most excitement we had on the whole cruise. It was an experience Dan nor I will every forget!! We also saw a baby iguana. The photos are not the greatest because of the little critter hiding in the rocks. I also, as you will note, took many, many pictures of the water crashing against the rocks. Since my days of watching "Dark Shadows" I have loved seeing and hearing water crashing against the rocks. The intensity and the passion of some of the crashes hypnotize me.

Disco Night on the ship

Very cool!! It was great to experience a night of Disco. The musicians did a really great job performing songs from the Disco days.

Aruba - April 1, 2008

Aruba was our very first stop on the cruise. Here Cristal, Skip, Derrick, Dan, and I took an excursion on the Jolly Pirate ship. Dan, Skip, and Derrick snorkeled while Cristal and i soaked up the sun, enjoyed the scenery, and watched the guys having fun snorkeling.

I love art, so when I saw how much art was on the ship I felt as if I was in a art museum 24/7. I couldn't leave this vacation without taking photos of the art. I was so amazed by it all.

New York City

On Dec. 15, 2007, Sarah and I decided to take a mother/daughter trip to New York City. We enjoyed walking the streets, seeing the bling-bling at Tiffanys, shopping for ties at Vasachi, checking out the NY Public Library and very much enjoying the Metropolitan Art Museum, which we MUST go back and see.

Clepper Family Picnic

On Aug. 12, 2007 we got together for a picnic at Randy and Tracee's house. It was a really nice time and lots of fun. Usually when we get together there is a lot of heckling....we don't see each other as much as we would like, but one thing for sure, we have a great time together. :)
